IHSH-295-IB - 14oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt - Indigo/Black
-
Just picked this up from the R & H sale after months of procrastination.
I received it yesterday and have to say it is a fantastic shirt. I now know what the fuss is all about.

Man @Oaktavia this thing is looking so good. I haven't washed mine at all — been holding off because our weather's so damn weird here (read: hot most of the time) and I haven't gotten to wear it as much as I'd like. Needs a lot more punishment. But yours gives me hope!

When the weather is too hot I turn up the AC and wear mine inside lol…my fiancée hates it bc she's freezing.
But it'll evo just like mine with around 100 wears. Three machine washes after about 70 wears.

It seems like the consensus is that this fabric is better than double indigo? Higher contrasting and fades faster? I have the 12oz double indigo western and thinking of giving it up and trying this. I've def worn mine more than 80-90 wears and nowhere to that level of evo. It's been a slow process

Guys , don’t wash all year and you will see amazing results . I am into 30 days and not planning to wash for few years . This denim is incredible !!!!
I think that that the shirt will fade and look better than bottom.
@oaktavia your results are great man !!

I have the double indigo western too and it fades nothing like the 295, which kind of surprised me. My ind/ind has been washed dozens of times though. I would say def keep the ind/ind around and get this one too. It's rad having both to choose from and maybe you can go the vintage fade route with the one you have now and go after high contrast with the 295. I can't think of a shirt that is better suited for high contrast.

You'll get amazing results with this denim no matter what…and don't have to wear a stinky grimy shirt to get there either.

How much thicker and heavier is the 2oz comparision of 12oz vs 14oz? Could the 14oz be treated almost like a light jacket?

2oz does not seem like a lot but it is actually pretty substantial. The ind/ind really feels like a shirt, while the 14oz is more "shacket"-like. There is a type III version for that reason too. I like it better as a shirt though in my opinion.

@Oaktavia
Man that shirt looks awesome !!
After seeing yours I decided that I must have one
Bad luck for me it is sold out here, but I got one at RH paid more there but I got to have it ! -
Whoo-hoo @Daniel San ! You're going to love it.
-
got the shirt today , what a great piece
it could be a little smaller so I am thinking of a hot wash before starting to wear it
what do you think guys? would like to hear your opinions! -
@Oaktavia
it is so obvious for me that I forgot to make a pic. Try to make one later at work.
But actually I just want to hear what your opinions and experiences are with a hot soak for shrinking
Maybe I should have explained that better, sorry ! Try to get along here with my school English I learned almost 30 years ago
-
::) maybe it is not that bad as I thought. at least it looks not so bad on the quick pic in the restroom at work.
think it needs a bit of wearing first to get softer and to mould to the body.
under the shirt I wear a henley with long sleeves and a tshirt
what a difference to my 12oz shirt, this thing is killer -
@Daniel San I get what you are saying, but I do not recall gaining much shrinkage from washing mine…but I do not think I hot washed it. Hard to remember. A hot wash won't hurt and might make it a little less out-of-the-bag feel to it. I have had similar concerns with new shirts and have found that much of the worry is lessened with lots of wear.
Either way, even if it is a little big, it's still be a wonderful piece to add to your collection. The fit pic looks solid. The sleeves will shorten a bit with the honeycombs settling in.

I think it looks really good, but then again I much prefer a shirt being just a little too big vs a little too small — this one looks nice, no pulling at the placket, looks trim around the sides. The arms do look a little long, but this is true for most IH shirts, and Oaktavia's right by saying they'll start to shrink up as you wear the shirt. I usually roll my sleeves up a little, but that's just one way to alleviate the length.

Thank you gentlemen !
Maybe I will wash it later with 40C and low spin 600rpm.
Will report
