IHSB-BIGBUCK-BLK - Black Deerskin Western Shirt - The Big Buck
-
Thanks guys! I could have scrolled through the pages by myself. So the difference between the Pale Rider and the Big Buck is that the Bug Buck starts dark and fades to lighter shade while it is vice-versa for the Pale Rider. Correct?

Received a Big Buck in the mail this morning !!! To be honest i didn't really know what to expect from a deerskin suede item as i've never own and touch that kind of product, the feeling is very different compared to what i was expecting, but not in a bad way of course, i love it, it's just funny how it doesn't feels like leather, the inside feels and looks like foam ahah I didn't know leather could take this form, it's so soft and comfortable, just looking at it i feel like this jacket has some pea coats vibes, a very lightweight one.
The inside is just awesome, the color, stains and every marks create a pattern very unique and given the overall color is natural i guess indigo from my shirts will transfer on it and add more caracter and kind of a custom interior, it's a new discovering for me, it's very exciting, autumn and winter will be very fun wearing the big Buck and the Bareback I will take pictures of the inside tomorrow.
Speaking of winter, do you think the properties of this Buck can protect from cold and wind ?
(Outch that mirror is so dirty oO) -
Do people owning this shirt notice they need to use a lint roller as much as they do their black denim shirts?
Is it a warm shirt taking the place of moleskin?

Too hot to wear it actually, i will wait this autumn to give an opinion ^^

Am I the only one who thinks that the pocket placement is weird on this shirt?
The distance from the left and right pocket to the button bar differs on some shirts. This
is also true for the shirt in natural leather (have a look at the product pics).Unfortunately I also have to say that I was really dissapointed about the leather quality of this shirt.
It feels amazing, no question. But there where severe marks on it, one was nearly a hole where the leather was really thin. -
This is what we say on the product page:
There is scarring to the hides, we try to avoid as much as we can, but there may be small imperfections in the hide - if you can't embrace the perfection-is-in-the-imperfections, then this shirt is not for you
I will speak to Simmons Bilt re: the pocket placement - thanks

-
Sure. I have read and understood the additional text on the product page. In the end what matters is how you interpret "small". I have no problem with imperfections like this:
But on this defect the leather is really thin and think that a real hole can develop quickly.
That would be a litte too much character for me. But in the end that is just my personel opinion. Have a nice weekend all.

Ah that’s very unfortunate David. Scarring on the skin is no big deal. But a pit like this I cannot find acceptable either.
-
Hey @Barbarian Dave we are sorry to see this! I have dropped you an email so please look out for it and Giles will follow up with Simmons Bilt regarding the pocket placement also.
-
I have just spoken to Steve at Simmons Bilt. The patterns he is using are the same patterns that he has been using for our shirts since he started making them. He is not trying to make excuses, just stating a fact. I have asked him to look at tweaking them so that the edge of the pockets are the same distance from the centre of the placket.
In his defence, he is not the only one with this issue….

@Giles
I hope the olive big buck will get this "upgrade" !?
I always thought it´s a photo thing and not in real , also that the left hand pocket seems to be a little lower ! -
awesome
thank you ! -
it looks like the pockets are at equal distance from the 'middle opening' of the shirt (where you button them up), but the front placket on the left hand side makes it look like the left pocket is closer to the edge.
