Giles is off to Morocco Chasing Blue Fin Tuna Again - Sept 2022
-
@Giles is at his "Disneyland" right now.
The waves and hooking a fish are the rides.
The meat is the concession stands
and Szymon is the annoying children kicking you in the shins.the grumpy face at breakfast was one that did not get a picture with Snow White

Great catch.

I went to see this one weighed, it came in at 58kg, so we were definitely over-estimating the weight of fish earlier in the week (isn't that always the way )
Habib was our captain yesterday and again this morning. We walked the floor yesterday, and had a ball this morning. He is the happiest man in the village…..It's a lovely story actually, he is really a captains mate, but it was a day of worship yesterday, so many of the more devout captains were in the Mosque, so he was promoted for the day. We ended up trouncing all the other boats with "proper" captains, Habib was on cloud nine all afternoon and evening, whenever I caught a snippet of one of his conversations "Champions" was frequently heard. And on the way home last night, we had to stop and chat to every boat on the water, 1) to ask how many they had caught and 2) to show them how we had done Szymon and I asked for him again today - he is now even happier......

And some words Sami posted on FB….
The 2nd part and my last 6 days in Belyounech has been outstanding.
I had Javier and Tomas from Columbia, Pato from Peru and Andrew from the USA.
Our good salty friend from Gibraltar Jamie Triay joined us for 4 days and it was pretty much party time on the water and on land, it was Moha’s idea for the 3 of us to fish togethers
it was also good seeing Szymon & Giles and to watch them again in action.
Lost on where and how to start as I am trying to rewind those astonishing moment but sometimes it is hard to put them on words, maybe it is better to let the images do the talking.
I was delighted to see Jamie and to fish side to side with him.
I knew Jamie for over 13 years, he was the pioneer on pushing the bar and promoting our line of rods in the Straight of Gibraltar long ago.
Jamie brought in the game to that region and raised the bar and still doing so till nowadays.
as that goes to Gibraltar I also give a lot of credit to Moha who also pioneered the Moroccan water and was one of the few that start popping for tuna if not the first.
Gentleman, all I can say that it was an honor and a pleasure to fish with you, the spirit was high, the fishing has been outstanding so what can you ask for more.
life is short, but we are taking full advantage of it by spending as much time on the water as we could.
The highlight of this trip was Jamie’s monster but also seeing everyone in action and watching the crews putting up a show on the water, it was tough for me to keep up with everyone catch but I did my best with taking shots from far and I hope I made some of you guys happy.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Moha for his service and hospitality, the crew at Belyounech, they all made us feel at home.
A special thank you goes to Mr Mustafa Ferdous from the Marine fishing representative for taking all necessity action to make that trip possible, Thank you sir!
Tight lines
