Luggage Bags and Packs
-
Will do, looking forward to it. I have owned the MR Dragon, Evergoods Phoenix, and now this baddie.
-
@goosehd nicely done!

I was tempted, but I'm on a train that's basically a rolling Faraday cage that travels through a region with poor phone reception.
I managed to connect to see the website at around 6:15 am local time, or 2:15 pm in NY, but didn't try to purchase. I guess that I'll have to live vicariously through those of you who did.

Phoenix & now…SAMURAI!
Part heritage, part tech, and I like it. The fabric is a stiff mother so the zips are def two handers for now. I cant wait for it to break in and settle down a bit. The patch is a work of art but….it is decidedly dorky. I imagine I wont be wearing it often. -
Completely agree about the zippers as they are stiff and will need some work to break in. Weight is not as heavy as I was expecting, which is a good thing. Super impressed that the zippers allow the bag to be opened fully and you can see the complete bag. Will come in handy for items that slip to the bottom of the bag. With my TAD bag, items slip to the bottom and I have to feel around for them which is often a pain in the bottom…

The misses threatened my life when I brought this up as a want so vicariously living through your Rucks. Good stuff @Anesthetist, evo updates on this piece MORE than welcomed
-
@tody you know you want one...
@Anesthetist and @goosehd your bags look great.
I'm still tempted, and will see what Keys are asking tomorrow when they go live. The price from GORUCK worked out at $1020 Australian direct, and anything over $1000 gets hit by import duty and GST, which will add another $150 or so onto the price. If the exchange rate has shifted in my favour...
-
@tody @Graeme TBH, I wasn’t going to make the purchase because of the price. Not having a GORUCK bag before this one, I considered that this purchase to be a leap of faith. When I saw @Anesthetist pull the trigger, I felt just a little more comfortable completing the purchase.
Is this the best bag in the world and the last I’ll ever own…probably not. Is it a cool bag with a lot of potential…definitely.
Will I get another bag in the future…only time will tell.
I’m to a point where I have bags for different purposes, and bags that work and don’t work for those purposes. Will I sell bags currently in my collection…probably not.
Will this bag fill a niche…yes.
Probably useless information, but I’m being honest and trying to help.

@goosehd I like the pack because of its crazy backstory, and it hasn't been made too complicated. Plus, my faithful Samurai backpack (thanks @Filthy2123ozjunkie) lost a strap last year, and I could do with a replacement.
I was, still am, very tempted by the Sattlerei Mathias Steinhauser packs. But they're reassuringly expensive.
The ULA Ultra Dragonfly looks a similar design to the GR1, being a panel loader with a few external pockets. Carryology reviewed it, and the fact that it's a simple bag appeals. It's the right size, but currently unavailable.

Nice kit @endo I have the same hard case and love it but it is a real attention getter.
-
Well done and welcome to the club!
-
@Graeme those Steinhauser pieces are impressive, especially like their small leather goods. I am a sucker for a horseshoe coin case and theirs is so well done, I could see myself falling for it.
-
@Anesthetist he's got an Instagram account if you need more temptation in your life...

The horseshoe coin case does look lovely.
