IHJ-54-BLK - Japanese Horsehide Rider's Jacket with Collar - Black (Tea-Core Dye

This might not help @Bulatik85 but i mean to. I am usually between sizes, a bit up from Giles, often by one size but very close. I had a long Clockwork Orange night staring at the numbers (you know, in a good way, add Steve Van Zandt intonation here) and came up with XL. I'm figuring that the slightly broader shoulders gives a wee bit more room. So I went with the XL. Also, how many layers do you want to wear underneath. More than a two IH layers is a lot of clothes–-and I live in a VERY cold place. If it's too small, I will come back here to explain. Good news is that there are more in the size up if it comes to that.

Well this arrived today and it more than meets my expectations. A truly beautiful jacket.
While the XL size chart comparison with the IHJ-35 is almost identical, it definitely feels snugger through the P2P and waist. The shoulders and sleeves fit beautifully. I'm not going to fit a UHF underneath (and wouldn't look as hawt as @AdamJ anyway) but a IHTL-1501 should work well. So while I won't be layering much with this, overall it presents a very tailored appearance with just a mid-weight t-shirt.
Size-wise I am in the same category as @profdbrk - vacillate between XL and XXL jackets. I wear an XXL in the IH-9527J Rider's Jacket; other than the sleeve length, it mostly mirrors the XL in both the IHJ-54 and IHJ-35.
As always, thank you to the Stubborn Crew for fantastic service!

Mine was delayed by the weather for delivery until tomorrow. I will report back, perhaps with a picture if I can manage. Thanks to @Manticore for the shout out and information. I will be curious to see how it fits. If we come up the same way–-that is, too snug for a UHF underneath but any other sort of one layer less dense shirt that too is my objective. There are never enough cool leather jackets as far as I can tell though few can compare in quality to IH. That means we can work them for different looks and weather. I'm hoping my experience matches Manticore as far as fit goes.

@Manticore , @profdbrk , @Alex , could you please share your pictures with this jacket? and tell what is your weight/height ?
(I used to wear(and still wearing) XL in all my IH tops, but I have lost some weight recently… now I am 184cm/83kg)

@Manticore Enjoy man!

Particularly for @Bulatik85, my IHJ-54 arrived today. I am delighted to have picked the XL. Underneath I'm wearing the IHSH-236 in navy and those are 555-21-ODs.
Perfect in the shoulders, a size up would be okay but then it's more layers. I feel confident that I could put this on with t-shirt underneath the 236 and it would not be too snug. Layering a UHF would be snug but quite cozy, not too too tight but almost. The sleeves a tad long but it's a biker jacker, so no foul. My dress shirt sleeve is 34". Height:177cm Weight: 180lbs and decreasing. Gravity and age. I hope the pictures convey what feels to me like an excellent fit. And as for the jacket, this is ridiculously nice. If I unzipped the sides it will be perfect too on the bike for lower half comfort. -
Great pics @profdbrk ! Clearly looks like it fits looser for you than on me - To answer @Bulatik85 's question and for comparison, I am 175cm/5'9" and ~90kg/200lbs.
I highly doubt I could fit a UHF under it comfortably, no way with it zipped. With the tighter waist and opening measurements on the 54 I really don't see myself wearing this zipped up at all - it looks a bit odd from the rear with the tight waist and then looser mid/upper back.
After staring at the XXL measurements, I decided to order one (asked for the shortest length/sleeve) in order to compare the fit. For an item like this it's worth making the effort to get it right.

I think that's a brilliant idea, @Manticore. This is too good not to get perfectly and the IH team are such good eggs about trying on two and sending one back, it makes the buying thing so much better and easier. I think I will rarely zip up this jacket but, as the pictures suggest, it won't be a problem if do. With horsehide this dense it's been my experience that its warm with minimal layers and unless you're riding you never really zip it. Do show us the difference when the XXL shows up. I think we're all really curious about working out fits and sharing those ideas. Cheers.

@profdbrk , @Manticore thank you for replies guys!
@profdbrk great fit and pictures, thank you, now I have a better understanding of size and fit.
Most likely I will fit to XL with my parameters… -
XL over a shirt and tee @Bulatik85

That fit looks spot on @Alex . As much as I probably won't layer under this, I would like the option.
The XXL arrives tomorrow so will see how it compares to the XL on me.
