IH-634S - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

Guys, please help me make my final choice - tag 33 or 34. First time buying Iron Heart Jeans.
I am 185 cm (6ft2“) and 82-83kg (180-183 lbs). My waist is 33“. My thighs are not big, I used to be a skinny guy and my legs are not big and muscular.
I see that Giles went for tag 34 size for these and I have similar measures like him, but I just don’t want my jeans to look baggy so I will appreciate your thoughts and recommendations. -
Did you compare the measurements on the product page to pants that fit you well now? Those numbers would be more helpful for everyone but without those the 34s seem like they'd be too big if your waist is 33. These won't shrink beyond where they are when new and will generously stretch out at least an inch in the waist when put under pressure.
Also, if you have slim thighs and legs and want a non loose looking fit but still a straight leg, check out the 666. Those could be better, but trust the measurements.

@pechelman , yes I did. And one of the reasons I am still not sure is exactly this. If I follow my experience with other jeans and pants, I should go for tag 33. the thing here is that I saw that both guys cited for reference on the product page (Giles being one of them) opted for tag 34 sizing. I also read that probably I will get 1“ of stretch with wearing or gentle „forced“ stretch pressure.
And thanks for the 666 advice. I find it really challenging to choose fit and size. I started with the idea that I will get 777s but the low rise of the 777s is really a no-go for me. I have also considered 666s but currently they are out of stock on my size and at the same time I believe 634s will be really good choice (I have seen thousands of photos of them on social media, here in the forum and with some Googling) -
Fwiw, most of my IHs are 666 tag 34s that fit very comfortable and my true waist is something like 37" so definitely don't place much value in sizing that way. I recently tried on a new pair of these 634-21s in tag 33. They were snug in the waist but probably about right. They didn't have 34 to try. Overall the rise sat too low for me despite having nearly the same numbers as 666 and they didn't really look that much different in silhouette than the 666uhrs I had on by chance so I didn't get them. Like you I can't do the true 777s because of the rise but the 721 chinos are great, if not even a little higher than I'd like. Hopefully something here helps.

Thanks a lot @pechelman. I really appreciate the information you shared.
I will probably go for tag 33 size. -

My exact waist size is around 80cm
That really means nothing. Your waist is not where the waistband of most trousers/jeans, it is often a few inches higher, which is why we ask you to measure the way we do....Once you have done that, if you still need help, reach out to the crew at shop@ironheart.co.uk.....

@Giles I actually meant that my most comfortable pairs (634S 142 and the 666S UHR) measure 80cm when measured like the IH way. So I assumed that my waist is 80cm. The XHS that I own have smaller waist measurements and are not that comfortable as these two pairs.

As I'm typing, I'm wearing my 634S 21 oz. The comfort level on this compared to the 666 is kind of light years away. The fabric feels much softer and kind of drapes to the body. It has a very nice feeling when worn.
-
@the246guy I feel the same. I love my slim fits but damn….the 634-S is a legend for a reason
-
Absolutely, I now feel that I missed out on the 634S Anniversary cut, but never mind, I have the this now to enjoy for a long time to come.
-
This will be it for the next few months!
-
@the246guy you can’t go wrong with the classic. I just put on my 634S-B after having them neglected for a year or so. The 21oz is the most comfy denim.
-
A side by side comparison of the 21 oz vs the 14 oz or the XHS, I see a lot of white regions on the 21 oz and I guess it is the result of the looser weave that people here talk about. Correct? I have yet another question. The waist is just about comfortable for now and I guess it will stretch when exposed to stress, but I assume that it will shrink back to its original size after a wash or a soak. Do you guys normally size down from your actual measurements with the 21 oz? Just curious to know!
-
In my opinion the 21oz does stretch, but the tighter the are the more they will stretch imho. I wear them without a belt to the point they feel relaxed and after that with the belt to stop the stretching a bit. They will shrink a little when you wash them and stretch back and so the story continues. In the end just enjoy and wear them hard

In the end just enjoy and wear them hard
Its pretty basic info but its the truth -
I just have another stupid question. Why is there a difference in the length of the denim? For example., my 634S 14 oz has 36 as its tag length while this one has 34? At 182 cm, I'm feel that the length on this could have been 36.
-
34 is for the asian market
-
What do you mean? Do we have length 36 on this? I was told 34 length is the standard on this one!
