IHSH-07-IND - Hickory Stripe Western Shirt - Navy
-
Got this during end of season sale – what an amazing shirt!
-
@Crease Thanks for clarifying that. I’ve got the 777 jeans as well. I find them a bit more comfortable to wear than the 555 cut. Nice and roomy in the thighs.
-
Looking good @AtariHunter !

@Crease

I sized down – from an XL in UHF to an L on this one.
-
@AtariHunter ok thanks for the info!
-
@Inorganic I also sized down one (L --> M)

Just noticed my Hickory has the HW MoP snaps instead of the plain white ones that seem to come as standard. Got this from eBay, wondering now if it was ever produced with these snaps, or if the previous owner was just a real stickler for detail, paying to get it pimped with something so similar...

I'd like to buy a hickory shirt, and this seems like a great candidate; however, there's also the 8 oz one (IHSH-366-IND) coming out this fall for $315. Studio D'Artisan also offers a more budget friendly 14 oz (D5335H) across various retailers.
Does anyone have experience with Studio D'Artisan's version to compare? Any thoughts on this version vs the fall/winter IHSH-366-IND?

@T4920
I have the other hickory that comes with those. After wearing it and seeing pics of the 07 I would absolutely pay to have those put on. I don’t like the stock white ones at all. The pearl ones look super nice to me! -
@Jbailla2 I've never seen the SDA Hickory in person, but in general I'd say their products are of a similar quality to IH. I'd just go with the style/fit you like the most, and if it's that's the IH, I doubt you'll regret spending the extra $100 as the shirt will last you a lifetime!
-
@Jbailla2 I have the 274 which is excellent and just recently got the D5335H, but been busy so haven't even taken it out of the package yet. I can have a look and see how they compare tomorrow.
-
@Jbailla2 In case you need some extra arguments for the 07
Here’s mine after a few years. One of my all time favorite pieces.Can’t talk about the other two options but I’m sure they won’t disappoint either. Only winning options

Looks great @weftyarn ! This is my favorite Iron Heart shirt ever made, weather permitting I tend to grab this as I’m heading out the door most days.
-
@JunkPants , did you have a chance to open up your new studio d artisan shirt for a comparison?
-
@Jbailla2 Sorry, didn't get the chance yesterday, but just did a little try on.
Both of these are 44/XXL. I'd say the material on the Studio D'artisan feels a bit more substantial, really a very nice fabric, although the IH is plenty robust.
Biggest difference is probably the fit. IH wins here for me (as is often the case), but might be a different story for you. The IH has slightly longer arms, which is always a plus in my book as I have very long arms, and feels a bit more roomy in the chest. The SDA is quite wide in the shoulders at 20.5 inches (works out fine for me), yet is fairly slim in the arms. If you have big arms and especially forearms I'd say this might feel a bit cramped. Keep in mind this might loosen over time, this SDA is unworn at this point.
Another difference is the fabric pattern. The SDA has quite wide stripes of equal width of indigo and white. On the IH the indigo stripes are wider than the white, at about 2:1 I'd say. This gives the overall effect that the IH appears darker than the SDA. You could perhaps say that the IH has a more understated, elegant look.
I'd give the nod to the Iron Heart, it's essentially spot on in every way. The SDA seems very good though, and might be a better option if the fit is right for you and you value the heft of the fabric.
Hopefully that was helpful.
(And to be clear this was comparing the IHSH-274-IND to the Studio D'Artisan D5335H)
