IH Crew - Any chance there are any more smalls in Japan? @3141592654 is looking for one and when I search the IH Japan website, I don’t see any. I also have checked with Withered Fig and am awaiting a reply from them.
@AdamC @AdamJ Any chance you guys were able to find one in Japan?
-
@goosehd They do not stock it in Japan I am afraid so we cannot get any more. @3141592654 you will need to sign up to the restock notification to be emailed if we have one returned.
-
@AdamC signed up for S and XS. lesson learned though: don't hesitate on the epic IH drops. thanks guys!
-
@3141592654 Best of luck in the search and fingers crossed for a return!

Guys, I'm starting to worry that I also screwed up with sizing. According to the size chart an XL should fit (that’s what I ordered) and an L should be too small, especially around the chest. But reading your experiences makes me doubt… Anyway, will know more next week
Remember if it is a little big, hot soak the crap out of it. Mine was huge when I first got it and I put the jacket in a tub with full blast hot water. See my crappy before an after photos.
-
well that doesnt make it any easier for me @Oaktavia but thanks for sharing that...maybe the large is the right one for me afterall? It looks like yours shrunk a ton, maybe more than an inch in length?
The medium's already on its way. At this point, probably worth the 35$ return fee to be 100% sure.

If I were you I would return the medium and hot soak the crap out of the large. Sorry I hadn't seen your post until just now after scrolling to find what you were referring to. Did you already return the L? If so, $35 you'll forget about once you make your decision on the L or M. Shrinking the L I would guess would ultimately be a better more customized fit. But you might be able to just get the M wet with cold water and wear it damp till dry to get a similar effect. That's my two cents. I'll keep up with this thread to see what you end up doing and if I am understanding your situation correctly.

@Oaktavia thanks for the reply.
I still and only have the size large on hand. The medium might already be on its way? I panicked yesterday and saw there were 2 mediums left in stock so snagged one.The shrinkage is pretty extreme in your photo to me that your before looks about the same as mine.
-
@pechelman yup mine shrunk a good amount and I agree it looks the same as your L presoak.
-
@Oaktavia you bring up a great point. One that I’ve been wondering about myself.
If the fit is close and you cold soak and wear wet to get a form fit, thats an option if one is looking to set creases and get a molded fit? I think this will be the position I am it once my jacket arrives. But also, what if it’s just a touch too big? A luke warm soak May get that touch of shrink?
If it’s a bit on the “massive” side a super hot soak could do the trick.
Guess my wondering is, a molded, shaped wet wear can still be achieved based on the initial fit and what temp of water to use…?
-
@Mizmazzle yes that all sounds correct
-
Wow, that‘s a huge difference! Thanks for the pics. So, did you soak it with super hot water? Or more like shower temperature?

I blasted it with all the way hot water, hot as my tap went...110-120F is hottest the tap can get.

Good to know, thank you! Now let‘s see how the jacket will fit and take it from there.

Just to add fuel to the sizing fire, the XL of this one measures slightly larger in most categories than my XXXL Duck Type III.
Probably the closest to standard American sizing I’ve seen on an IH jacket!

Filthy would even go as far as boiling his denim to achieve an even larger amount of shrinkage. He has it documented well on here but I couldn't tell you which threads.

Thanks for the hint! However, I hope it won‘t be that big that I have to boil it
