Hey @goosehd thanks for asking. Finished in 12 hours 10 minutes. The swim was pretty good actually, had more space around me than expected so could just go. The bike was a lot of fun with some serious climbs and fast technical descents. I’m on a road bike so the guys and girls on tri-bikes could pass me in the flats, but I caught them on the hills. Then it got hot and we all suffered intensely on the run. Lots of people walking, quite a few had to call it a day, and some needed medical attention. Just one day out and it is hard to put into words what it meant or how it felt, but perhaps because of the heat it was harder than the 100km ultramarathon I did last summer, and getting to the finish line cost enough that it will pay off dividends in time. I’ll do a recap in the triathlon thread when I get the official race photos. Last thing to say before then is that my partner and her dad supported me, throwing cold water at me and just being encouraging, and I think that more than anything makes doing one of these kinds of things meaningful.
