Private White VC

Sorry late to the party on this one. I love PW gear and their heritage and ethos. I have one of their polo's and zip pocket shirt. The fit and construction is excellent! But by far my favourite piece is the black peacoat made from Melton wool woven in the North of England not far from me. If you're in the market for a peacoat look no further! Everything about this coat oozes quality and class and will last forever! It's so warm that on cold days it feels like your constantly being hugged haha! I will definitely buying more gear from them and they have some great sales on too especially for small chaps like me!

@ShaymenFX How does the peacoat fit? Large, true to size, small. New brand for me and sizing information/guidance is always helpful.

@goosehd I have just spotted this thread, so my apologies for the delay in replying.
I have a few PW items and the quality is excellent. In my experience the fit tends to be large so if you are between sizes then I would probably take the smaller of the two.
However the fit is very product specific and the measurements online are no where near as accurate as IH.
I just bought 2 sweatshirts in the sale and they are superb with a great sleeve length for me.
I did however have to return their Harrington jacket as the sleeves were far too short.
Having read this back, probably none of this helps much!! -
@IrishHeart @Tago-Mago Great information gentlemen and a brand that I definitely will keep my eye out for.
How would you compare their quality to other brands (namely IH)?

@goosehd I’m away on business at the moment but I’ll snap some pics when I’m back to show the wear. Had the coat for 5 or 6 years now and very happy in general with the quality. One weak point is the stitching on the buttons. Having said that they have raised prices by roughly 50% since I bought it, so definitely not the deal it used to be
-
@goosehd in my experience the quality is of a high standard. They use top notch materials and hardware. I have a couple of coats ( one ventile and one wax) that I have had for several years and they have really stood the test of time. I have another on order.
I think it’s in outerwear that they shine. I think they outsource their shirting and knitwear and I haven’t tried any of them.I have just received a couple of sweatshirts which are substantial ( 15oz ) and seem very well made.
I don’t have anything of theirs that compares to the IH items I have bought but doubt that it is quite on par.
They have regular sales which is when I tend to buy, and that’s good way of dipping your toe into their stuff if there is anything that catches your eye.
As mentioned previously, my biggest frustration is with sizing and their size charts are far less reliable than those on IH. Customer service is not bad, but again, not at the level of IH.

Been a big fan of PWVC for ages. Have 5 pieces of outerwear, a few submariner jumpers, and two button-down shirts. All in a size 5 so relatively consistent for me. Only sizing issue is the sleeves are a bit short on the flight jacket.

I concur with everything that's been said above about the quality and fit of PWVC. I've realised that @goosehd I gave you some wrong info about size above saying it is true to size! I thought their size 2 was small and it isn't it is extra small! I'm generally a small in IH shirts and a medium in the tees but extra small in everything I own of PWVC including shirts, polo shirts, tees, hoodie and the peacoat. I'll post you some pics of my PWVC pieces as well.
One thing not mentioned above is the fact that a lot of their clothing has some nice little copper details such as the zips, snaps, fastners etc. Apparently this is a nod to the who the company is named after. Private White won the Victoria Cross for bravery in WWI by rescuing his comrades from drowning using copper telephone wire!!!
