Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome 3

Boot wearing contest running from October 2023 to April 2024.
Wear a new pair of boots and submit photos once a month.
There's another window to enter 1-5 November.
-
I entered two pairs in the contest, most people do one. Both Yuketen Alan made in Mexico. One khaki suede, one black calf. Made on a 1930's American last. The leather sole has a unique shape and is held together with lemonwood pegs. The boots are comfortable out of the box.

Nice pair @Luijim78 would be cool if you entered. Over 700 people in already.

Those are looking great! Just finished my uploads for this month too
-
Both looking really good. You wearing one pair more than another? I'm trying to spread the wear equally. Was cool to see your pair featured on the stitchdown email too
-
Thanks buddy!! I was pretty surprised to open up the email too. I was like wait a min that’s my boots lol…
I’m trying to be as close to equal as I can be. But I’ve got about ten more days on the moc toes. 32 days vs 26 days. I also actually really like the moc better. The others have been a real challenge to break in. The top (past the cap toe) has been pushing down a lot. It’s started to get better but still not all day comfort. The Mocs I can wear all day and they are so comfortable
-
Yeah I've had that painful crease before. Goes away but takes some time.
Both pairs looking great anyway.
I'm happy I've got two pairs that work, as opposed to having to give up on two pairs last year. -
@Nik any updates on these?
-
Final pictures of the dome coming in a couple weeks, then judging and winners should be announced mid April. So many amazing pairs of boots in the contest. I'll share my final pics, here are some from last month.
-
Last months submission photo(s) looking forward to seeing all the final photos in the next couple weeks.

Expert crock

Hard to believe it’s basically done already! It was a good time again this year. This is the 3rd year I’ve participated in.
These boots were really comfortable. I’ll definitely keep them in rotation. Over the summer I’ll prob try work on my cap toe pair I didn’t finish this year
-
@kkibbey23 Those got better and better. Well worn.
-
Shined up my black pair for pictures. Will do the suede pair later today. Both boots were fun to wear throughout the contest. The suede have a more glove-like close and soft fit, while the black feel more structured. The black sole developed a squeak. The leather soles besides that were light and comfortable, although Idid have some slippery moments. The wide toe last on these was the big advantage, as they are very comfortable.
-
@Nik those are great! Can’t wait to see the other pair. Was one more of a default pair than the other?I found 2 pairs hard to do, but in hindsight I kinda wish I stuck with the capt toe pair also. Oh well, next year
-
Will photo the suede pair tomorrow when it is not raining. The suede got worn slightly more than the black but I tried to rotate them pretty equally. The suede edged the black because I was dressing more casually during most of the contest (unlike now when the black pair is fitting in better) and because the black developed a squeak.
