CD’s make in Japan
-
awesome Mo
remember there where lots of specials in Japan on vinyl too, back in those days. they were super rare here in Germany. -
I could bet you any money those Japan records would have sound the best.
What I have noticed if it made in Japan people ready to paid silly prices for them
I have a cd made in 1995 brand new sealed made in Japan
for 28 years old
Could never even think of that. -
@Kasi it’s true — a lot of Japanese vinyl pressings I have sound amazing. As with most things, they’ve got that extra level of refinement.
-
You got that right. The sound is very smooth.

Awesome purchases Mo!
The CD Content source and digi are identical in UK/Europe/US/Asia.
BUT there was a time when Japan had higher manufacturing excellence – better engineers, better QC, higher quality materials and a domestic consumer market that demanded the highest quality. That’s why they sound better! In my mind the attention to detail in the Japanese packaging was also better.
Kinda explains why if you bought Japanese CD’s back in the day, we buy Iron Heart now – both cut from the same cloth so to speak! -
I did buy a few Japan CDs back in days.
That’s was from HMV big store Manchester the massive one.
Internet wasn’t available at the time.
Was really struggle. To get them in.Know I know few people can get me anything I want. Downside they brand new.
Check this one Body Count.
Has copper killer on it. In 1992 in US LA riots happen this one was pulled of the shelf.
ICE-T and LAPD was at war at the time.
Very rare to get this one the price will be high.
There more coming from Japan
-
People tend to think that HMV product was bought centrally and shipped to stores, this was true on the popular chart lines, but store staff could basically order what they wanted at store level - kind of crazy when you think about it! The HMV Manchester store buyers really knew their stuff when it came to Hip Hop, Rap, RnB. I remember they sold a lot of locally bought mix tapes as well - them was the days Mo!

@Kasi this brings me back to the times when I was buying the CDs on https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/
One extra motivation for me on top of what was already said by many in this thread was that the Japanese editions usually had some bonus tracks. -
@IH-GARY
HMV those was definitely the days
The price was high at the time like £16.99 with stickers saying import, on the CDMusic suck nowadays. Make on low quality products.
Push out reissues on poor quality making money out of mass production on records or CDs
Even the tapes sound the best back in the days. The record plants shut down.
They started up as if they know what they doing. As Levi’s jeans done the same.
Seem quality is worn off. People want to spend money on shit now.

They definitely have extra tracks.
