What up IH fam! Seems like at least a couple of us are fans of Jim Cornette’s podcasts and perhaps even some AEW wrestling, so we decided that there should be a space for other fans of, “the sport of kings”
We can talk kayfabe or shoot angles across the promotions, or geek out over the pros of years past. Either way, welcome to our slice of this forum, and don’t forget your gimmicks.

Checking in as a certified mark...
My favourite pro-wrestling memory is attending NJPW Dominion 2018 in Osaka Jo Hall, known for being the night Kenny Omega finally won the big one!
I'd followed his journey since his G1 win almost two years prior, and to be there for that moment was a genuinely special experience.
Sadly he never reached those heights again... You can always rely on Kenny to put on a banger, but there was just something about that NJPW lighting and camera work that made him look like the baddest mother fucker on earth...
-
I can hear his phone sex voice saying good bye and good night from here! Diverticulitis is no joke, so I hope he gets better.
Do you feel, like corny and myself, that the young bucks have cooled off damn-near completely? Also, do you follow any NJPW or WWE currently?

This should be an awesome thread! A lot of my best memories as a kid revolved around wrestling. My dad knew Goldberg’s brother (somehow) and we got hooked up with ringside seats a couple times when WCW came to town. Scott Hall is my favorite wrestler ever and I’m so glad I got to see him work in person. I always wished I would’ve made it to a WWF event as a kid, but I guess we were a WCW family.
Admittedly I don’t follow as much as I did when I was a kid, but I’ll still drag my girlfriend any time AEW or WWE come to town, and watch all the PPV’s. Every few years I’ll do a rewatch of WWF from 1998-1999 and feel so lucky to have grown up with that.

@deadendpro couldn't care less about The Bucks nowadays. Used to watch BTE, and appreciated the whole buzz around them in the pre/early AEW days, but as performers they've really stagnated and come across as extremely unlikable even when playing Babyface.
I don't think Kenny's got long left (wrestling wise), hope he gets better and puts on one last banger with Ospreay as a passing of the torch moment, and then steps away from full time commitments. The amount of shit his body has been through is inhuman, gotta prioritise longevity at some point... although I think that ship have already sailed.

@october-rust I have fond memories of the late 90s too, although I could never properly follow it because he didn't have the right TV channels and my parents were opposed to the violence...
Always used to catch highlights on a Saturday morning though, and sneak VHS recordings of PPV shows I got from friends in after school.
The first PPV I watched was Unforgiven '98, with the infamous Kennel from Hell match
RIP Pepper

@october-rust thats awesome! A WCW PPV was my first live event in Oakland, CA. I really love that y’all got the hook up and will still go to a show! What’s been your most memorable recent event? Also, WCW World Tour on N64 was the game I think my dad and I played the most. So I’d gladly say we were a WCW household…but when raw was war, I’d have to know about that too! Lol
@T4920 lmao! I remember only watching BTE to see the dark order sketches when Brodie was still with us (RiP). And yeah man, while I’m not an elite mark, I too am pulling for Kenny to get an 8-star match from uncle Dave while his body can. Is there a match, wrestler or angle you would like to see completed or revisited? MJF was a breath of fresh air before they paired him with Adam Cole. I felt good knowing that Brian and Jim also thought it was a boneheaded idea tho. That popped me.

What in the world went wrong with VKM? Listening to corny talk about the details regarding all the shit (literally) and it confuses me how much one person can change! From the stories of the past few years listening to JC, it seems like Vince lost his damn mind!
And speaking of losing their damn mind, the rock vs Roman instead of Cody?!? I don’t even follow WWE like that and know this is not what the fans want! lol.
Make it make sense!
-
@deadendpro The VKM stuff is wild, but not surprising in the slightest... Looking back over the last 25 years of his on-screen antics, it's a textbook example of a predator hiding in plain sight. Being British, it reminds of the Jimmy Saville scandal, sans the kids (hopefully), but I'm glad Vince is still alive to bare the punishment and personal shame of his perverted antics being exposed for all to see!
As for Cody, I still think it's a work... Rock/Roman is undeniably a massive match, but under the control of HHH I don't think such a creative oversight would be made...
I might be wrong though, it'd be naïve to underestimate to how illogical wrestling booking can be sometimes...
-
Perhaps that’s it, about VKM, and I never noticed it because I had been out of the WWE ecosystem for so long. I remember the attitude era with all the Russo-led wildness across the board, but I stopped watching around 2002/2003.
And while I am hopeful HHH will continue his solid booking of his top stars, I can’t help but think the rock interjected himself into this at the request of the TKO higher ups to attempt getting more eyes on this at the cost of what fans want. JC has mentioned a few times that the rocks daughter is also GM of NXT now too, and that had to be to satiate Dwayne. I honestly do hope it is a work, but more than anything I’m looking forward to all the drive thrus and experiences from now through wrestlemania. Hehehe
-
I think HHH made the right call with Cody v Reigns with The Rock in Romans corner... I predict The Rock to help Cody win the title at WM
-
I've listened to do much Jim Cornette over the years that I genuinely struggle to fall asleep without his rants echoing in the background..
I don't follow WWE properly, just watch PPV shows and keep up with everything else via podcasts... but right now the product (IRL scandals aside) seems to be in the best place it's been in decades and I'm happy to see it!

@doubletee I'm gonna have to catch up with today's developments tomorrow morning...
