@Kasi your jacket gives delicious, dirty thoughts
-
@Oaktavia Wow, those fades are beautiful!! Kind of sky blue. I’m super interested now!! How do you like yours compared to your lefty?

@Oaktavia How do you like yours compared to your lefty?
I love them both but to compare them would be like comparing apples to oranges. The Lefty is hefty and brutally stiff, difficult to break in, compared to the slubby. The slubby feels much lighter than the Lefty, fades around the same rate, textured, the list could go on.
-
@Oaktavia thanks much!! I’m considering picking up a type III slubby or the IH-526J-142OD. Two totally different jackets and am having a tough time making up my mind.
-
@Nostradamion yes, those two are quite different from each other as well as the Lefty. Might just need to figure out what it is you want from a jacket fade wise or whatever other reasons help determine one over the others.

Does the 19L run big? The measurements makes it seem like it so I’m not sure if I should go Large vs XL. Even after shrinkage it seems like the measurements of these are pretty big
I tried on an IH-526J-142OD in XL at self edge and the fit was as perfect as could be, but I decided to hold out for this, preferably in the black OD, or a 21oz classic.
I don’t own any iron heart yet 🥲 I got a Ship John ramblin in Medium last year, perfect fit and overall amazing jacket, but after trying on the iron heart I can see why there’s so much hype around it. Hoping for a black OD to give the ship John and break every now and then, but mainly wanting that extra weight
-
@bobbyg always trust the measurements! The last run seems to run a little bigger then the previous. But always trust the golden charts
-
@bobbyg this run did go about a 1/2 size larger than prior runs. Which may be to compensate the fact that this denim seems to shrink more than other IH Type 3s. When first purchased, I was thinking I might’ve been better off going down a tag size… after wear and a few washes it has tightened up considerably, to the point where I now second guess if I should’ve gone up a tag size. Oaktavia and Mizzmazzle showcase some great pre and post soak pics in this thread to give you an idea of how far you can shrink this piece and how the sleeve length not only shortens w a wash but w the setting of combs too. One last thing to consider when determining size, do you plan to wear with just a tshirt or will you wear w layers and do you plan to wear buttoned up or unbuttoned.
Edit: for the OD version, you can most certainly buy confidently off the measurement charts (all shrinkage removed in OD process)

@bobbyg to add one more datapoint, i've got an XL 526J-14IB and went for Medium in the newest run of Lefty after trying a Large before it. The 19L does shrink, but mostly in lengths and hardly much if anything in the widths. For me, the widths that did shrink, ended up stretching back out to where they started when they've been put under pressure. Ostensibly, these 2 jackets fit basically the same on me, but the thicker/tougher 19L makes it wear a little more snug feeling. In retrospect, I probably could have gotten away with a Large if I gave it a scalding hot soak and only intended to layer it, but that's not what I wanted. I'd focus big on the waist/opening widths and also on the lengths, knowing they'll shrink ~1".

Right on, thank you all! Ill have faith in the measurements. Really appreciate this forum and looking forward to get something when I get a chance!
There was also a riffblaster jacket locally but was a 38 so two sizes too small 🥲 that might be my favorite looking jacket, so clean and the shorter length is nice, I don’t know if I could really do no extra pockets though, all my pockets always have something hahaOh also, how does the19L feel compare to the 21oz? I’ve heard so many good things about the 21 and how it gets really soft.
Or does the 19L get that heavy soft feel really? -
@Luijim78 i dig your ‘difference’ pictures a lot
-
@Luijim78 I see what you mean, great pictures! I guess just the process between these two makes them unique in their own ways, which is really cool. I can see wanting both haha.
-
@bobbyg first is: i want this, then both and then.. i want it all! I hope you’re single otherwise we need to teach you some dark arts and stuff
-
Stiffness is also subjective. Sure the lefty is rigid. But for me, honestly, it’s never been uncomfortable or tough to break in. I’ve enjoyed how it feels from day one. It’s a good amount softer now after daily wear for the last few months. I often wonder how it will feel after a year or so. But I wear it constantly and find it very comfortable.
Of course, I’ve said it before…I’m a bit of a masochist. I’ve always felt XHS to be comfortable in the first 5 minutes.
-
@Heavy_blue Im starting to realize that haha. So many nice pieces by iron heart

@Kasi looking ace Mo!
