25oz + pliers = buttons open up
It really works, though. Shove a pair of needle nose through there, and move 'em around real good.

Working on it! Great tip, thanks gents

I only had problems with my first pair of 555XHS and then always lucky, maybe a little effort when I wear them wet after soaking, I usually use a pen to widen them a little, I only used the pliers on two pairs of 33oz from another brand, thank goodness for that, I have severe tendinitis on both thumbs and hard buttons sure don't help

I must say I’ve never had any problems with neither my 777-XHS nor my 777-XHSib. But maybe I was just lucky with the buttonholes. After all the jeans are handmade so no hole is created equal I guess. I still have major issues with one buttonhole in my trucker 526PJ that I still struggle to button up even after two years.

Same for me... My XHSib buttons never gave me headache

Sitting in a bathtub wearing these things for my initial soak, about to head out for a walk in the sun. It’s wild - the trapped air bubbles can only escape through the button fly or cuffs, the weave is that heavy and tight. Fucking champ & mint
-
Maybe that’s normal for denim, but I can’t recall ever being in this position…..

@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot pics or it didn't happen
-
@tody with bubbles, as requested
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot champ!
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot honestly it's the part I like least of the whole process, every time to remove them I have to call my mother and my partner , last week I soaked 4 pairs of XHS and risked having my right foot amputated
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot bubblin champ haha
-
@Luijim78 the legend grows with every story I hear about your mum
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot sooner or later they will report me for elder abuse ... I must say that she has much more strength than me, I could make a fortune if I decided to make a video and published it on YouTube

One thing has become clear to me doing the Indigo Invitational in some SBGs:
Life without XHS is a sad existence.Will be alternating this pair with the SBGs (which I also love) for the time being.
Decided to go for a bit of a stealthy look with these. Tonal stitching for the hem, and removed arcuates. Sacrilege you say? Nah, just toning down the contrast a bit, (wishing these had the dark back pocket stitching of the 888-XHSib).

Did a hot soak last night. Water as hot as I could get it, a bit of agitation and left them to soak for an hour. Then changed the water, some more agitation and left them for another hour.
After drying overnight they were almost comically stiff and cardboardy this morning . They buttoned up just fine though with a bit of elbow grease.
Absolutely love breaking in IH 25oz. Never gets old.
These were hemmed at 33.5 inches and after drying ended up at a perfect 32.5.
