Waiting for a pair to land at my door step, could someone help a newbie pls

According to the care guide I should soak before wear. if lets say my pair is a 30 waist and i wear it without a soak will they stretch to a 31? and if i decide to soak after that will they shrink back to 30 or 29 ?
-
Will the inseam shrink more than an inch with a soak/cold wash ?
(sorry if this is posted in the wrong place i couldn't find a q&a thread for the 555-XHS)

@Travis They look so toasty on you!! Happy to hear you’re XHS 4 life
-
@Yamanunu You're in the right place, don't worry!
We recommend soaking them to get any shrinkage out, so you don't have to contend with it down the line.
If your waist starts at 30, you can expect approx 1" shrinkage in the waist, so post soak they will be around 29". They will stretch back out to 30 or so, once you start wearing them.*
The inseam will shrink but not stretch back. The amount of shrinkage varies on your method but I would account for 1" as a rule of thumb.
Turn them inside out, then get them wet through in a sink or bath tub before they hit the washing machine.
*All of the above is based on a 30 degree C wash with low spin and drip dry.

@AdamJ Thank you, will soak with cold water and wait a bit before the first wash, can't wait to start rockin them
-
First pair of IH, first time i try 555 and first time buying direct from the Uk, I understand now Brutal yet so beautiful and well made thanks Graham and Travis I appreciate your patience with me and thank you guys for finding the perfect pair.
Definitely not my last 555 and not my last pair of Xhs
Can’t decide if I want to use as is or soak first, will se and maybe post an update ️

@Yamanunu that is truly a great fit. Soak em before you start wearing... If you set your creases, fades etc and wash em then they will be on different places cause this denim shrinks and you won't have that look
-
@Yamanunu 100% soak first.
I personally put mine on for a few minutes a little before they are completely dry. Doing this molds it perfectly and sets those creases. It may even help with stretching back the waist if needed. I do try to be careful not to stretch out the knee area too much though.
And I dig how it looks after I hang it back up to finish air drying.

@Yamanunu there are more ways to fade heaven! But my way and advice is soak before wear! Why? When you soak/wash them after a lot of wear you’ll get some fade-shifting here and there. When you soak pre-wear this won’t happen. You can go the fully soakless road but then my advice would be to NEVER let then get in contact with hot water. On the other hand it’s your denim! Wear it your way and wear it with pride! They look awesome on you brother

Thank you guys I truly appreciate the recommendation and the experience you guys share, and thank you all for the compliments regarding how they fit on me , I decided to soak before starting to use them.
Method: cold soak 50ish minutes (forgot to turn them inside out I was too exited )
Shrinkage on waist was not so noticeable since I already could fit a finger or two between the jeans and my body before the soak would say 0,75 inch, inseam is about 0,5, keep in mind my soak was with relatively cold tap water.
Knee, hem and thighs feel about the same see picture for comparison and my pre soak post if needed.
Button holes took a bit of work and about 10 minutes of wrestling but are fine now.
The pictures in green tee are post soak
I noticed something weird despite these being 25oz they took about 6 hours less to dry than my Momotaro 14,5oz same place same temperature same method of soaking
