WESCO

@SourPower they looks very comfortable especially with the wedge sole and boss toe. I went a 1/2 size down from my mister lou. Should work out. Did you wait long after placing the order.
-
@SourPower So I just got mine as well and noticed a bit more heel slip and not as snug at the instep compared to the mister lou. Could've probably gotten away with 1/2 size down, but hoping with wear they'll break in nicely.

Wesco custom last measuring question. I’ve decided to get a custom last for Wesco made. I couldn’t find any topic about this so thought I would add it in this section. I’d love to be able to get there and have them measure me, but that’s not possible. Anyone here do the measurements at home and have it work out well? I’ve done it for Viberg and it wasn’t a great experience. For some reason I don’t think I get the outline of my foot right. With the pencil straight up and down there seems to be quite a bit of space between the outline and my foot if that makes sense. My shins are pretty skinny so this custom way seems like the best way to go. Any tips would be welcome. I’ve looked at the Wesco video and I’m sure that will be a big help. I guess the hardest part will be waiting the 2 years for the boots to be made .

@deanclean I had my wife help me do mine. In my experience, you need the help of another person to do the measurements and drawings successfully.
Stand up during the process to make the process easier for the person assisting you.
-
Thanks @goosehd I will definitely have my wife help. It would be nice if they had reps or something someplace that would measure you and send them to the factory. Maybe I’m just overthinking it a little.
-
@deanclean I think anyone who sells Wesco should be able to help you, but for us in the Toronto area, it is a bit of a problem.
-
@goosehd ya I’m in Waterloo so no luck here either I’m sure.
-
Great advice @pechelman I’ll take that into account. I think I also read to do the measurements in the evening because swelling of feet will be at their most then.
-
@deanclean @goosehd is absolutely correct! You really do need another person to do the drawing, it allows you to stand 'naturally' and so your foot is exactly as it should be. This really is the nearest to a pro tip as I can give.
Really if I was doing it for someone at HQ I'd be following the Wesco video to the letter, they make them and so they do know best! The rare occasions we've had where custom sizing came out somewhat awry boiled down to person measuring trying to do it solo in 5 mins on their lunch break and didn't take the time to read the instructions and/or watch the video....
You get out what you put in - take your time, fully read the instructions, watch Wesco's video, ask someone for help tracing and measuring and if you need a nudge in the right direction we/Wesco are at the end of the phone/email (or you can even DM me on here)

Thanks @Ross I’ll keep all this in mind. The IH crew and the forum members are the best. Great source of information.

I talked to a really nice guy at Wesco yesterday. So helpful. He took my address and is sending me out a custom measurement packet today. Amazing service. You rarely see companies taking the time to talk and help anymore.

Hello again, I’m looking for a little more help on my boot build. I have my form complete and I’m trying to recreate a build I found on line with a couple changes. I’m trying to figure out what sole combination this boot has. It looks like a double midsole? Also not sure if the heels were left natural or brown or maybe left natural and dyed a different colour? I really like the colour combo of the leather. Thanks for any help!

Thanks @Dmart i appreciate the help!

Just placed my custom order! Thanks to everyone for the help. I turn 50 years old in March of 2026. It’s almost a 2 year wait time for boots so these will make a great gift to myself.
-
@deanclean awesome! I did a similar thing for some mister lous to arrive for my 40th! Gives a method to the madness of the wait time! Ha
