@scooter I just picked up the EC B524 batch this week but didn’t open yet since the A124 batch is still in my rotation. The EC along with the Larceny barrel proof batches, are typically very good IMO for the price point. So how are you rating this batch?

Fuckin fine and fancy

A most welcome Father’s Day gift presented to me this morning. What’s not to like.
Happy Father’s Day to all the IH forums Dads

I've had an on-again-off-again kick for Modelo Cheladas for the past couple years, but last night I spiked one with some 1800 anejo and I think i'm gonna put a ring on it

My apologies, for the delay. I typically don't care to comment on fresh cracks, and it took me a while to enjoy another pour.
Prior to this, I've only had 2 bottles of ECBP. Both were store picks. So, this is my first regular release. At 11+ years, and 130+ proof, it is by far the oldest/strongest I've had.
My impressions: Heavy cinnamon and caramel, with a hint of buttered popcorn on the nose. Cinnamon and brown sugar on the palate. Cinnamon(again), and a hint of chili pepper on the finish. Being above 130 proof, it is a tad hot, but I don't find it offensive, at all. Admittedly, I am a proof whore. So, it's right up my alley. It's definitely worth the buy.

@scooter thanks for your review of the ECB524. I’m also a proof whore and this batch sounds tasty and am looking forward to adding to the rotation after I complete the A124 batch. Thanks again and enjoy! BTW - I never had anything from Bardstown; looks like a nice blend - I’m going to check this out.

@mclaincausey Grabbed one of only 59 bottles of this at the pre-sale. It was 20% off/$139 and is 92 proof. Hoping it lives up to the hype, and that I can appreciate it.

@Jett129 , I picked this one based on posts by you and @mclaincausey.

Russell’s

@WhiskeySandwich Which one is it and what do you think? I’ve haven’t had one in quite a while and have been curious.
-
@Jett129 10-year, and it’s great. Been my go-to since the Buffalo Trace became unobtainable. The whiskey inflation of anything over 10 years has taken a toll lately though. Even though I consider this not only a better deal than Russell’s single barrel, but a better whiskey altogether, it’s starting to reach the price that I don’t consider a “great buy”. The way the market is going, they’re starting to price anything worth buying at the limit of what you could consider a “good deal” for the quality. McKenna 10year bib, for example, has more than doubled in price over the past few years. When I bought it for 30$ it was a killer deal, now it’s just meh for 70$. I haven’t yet resigned myself to Wild Turkey 101, but anything worth a shit is starting to get priced beyond its value. Bulliet 10 is still a solid buy readily available and is now cheaper than Russell’s, despite Russell’s being 10$ cheaper jets a year or so ago.

@WhiskeySandwich Thanks so much for the response,as I’m always looking for value in my bourbon purchases. The Eagle Rare 10 year used to bemy go to at between 29-34.99 a bottle. Can’t,currently, find it in my neck of the woods. The McKenna still holding at $56.99 out here. I should probably grab a bottle. The Russel’s 10 is currently $44.98 and the Single Barrels are going for $57.98. Thanks again.

@Jett129 no prob! Yeah, I’ve been on the list for Eagle for over a year, allocations spread thin. That’s a decent price for McKenna.
