anybody in the US recently get a repair done at the RW factory? Just curious what their current turnaround is. Figured it'd be a while...
-
Just got my 1907 back from a resole at red wing. Took exactly the full month of August from the day I dropped off at my local RW store. Had them swap the storm welt for a regular flat welt and I love it! Got rid of that extra bulk.

@WhiskeySandwich
Look great bud , my favourite Pair of RW are the 1907
Don’t know why I’ve got 3 pairs
My oldest pair are battered need a re- sole and conditioning, my second pair are my favourite still the natural leather by far the best and got a new pair in a box lol -
@Jcaz6996 love em, especially with this sole. The copper leather rocks, and the 45 last fits me great with no insole. Let’s see yours!
-
@WhiskeySandwich if you don’t mind me asking, whats a resole like that from RW run?
-
@WhiskeySandwich my 1907s are about due for a resold too. Yours look awesome though so it gave me some hope haha.
-
@Denimhead-0 their “premium” repair is 150usd, and includes shipping if you drop at a RW store. That could potentially include the sole, the welt, minor stitching repair, and eyelet/speed hook swap. They also condition the leather, install new laces, and give you a free can of mink oil. Kinda pricey, but I really wanted the slimmer welt in my most worn pair.
-
@WhiskeySandwich not bad. Love em

I had no idea these had even been released until Monday, and so as a sucker for anything green I had to grab a pair - and I must say they are just perfect (and very comfortable)

such a long thread . Bought my first RW back in 2008, those were 8 inch 877s. I was struck at once with their quality and appearance, and smell ... did not have such a boot before. Since they were half size too large I kept them anyway but ordered another sage mocs, 8139. Since then, I became sort of obsessed (not really but ) with boots, and RW in particular, probably as they are one of the best bang for buck heritage boots. So I bought but can not really wear them all... kind like with IR shirts . I think I am at around 15 pairs of RW atm, maybe more, having less than 10 pairs in rotation. Still wear the 8139 from 2008, resoled them once, and planing to send them in for another in a couple of days too. One of my favourite pairs still.
Of course, after years of only RW I tried some other brands but RW is really good for the money. I got mocs, Iron Rangers, Harvesters, Chuckas, some rare oxfords I found in Asia ( Bangkok and Singapore usually have the best editions ) etc. I have to say that I recently found that their quality control is not that good ... my last few pairs I ordered online all had some kind of defect, I even decided not to buy online ever again, but the closest RW shop is more than a thousand miles from where I live, in Amsterdam or Berlin, and last time I was there they had just a few pairs in my size and I had all of them. I am tempted by the all black black harness leather mocs, the new model ... so who knows.

Lovin’ it!

Day 4 in my new 875 upgraded with beckman soles before shipping
-
@FlavourFade dang, pretty rad they do the resole on a new pair before shipping! did i understand that right?
That about how far I am into my new pair of unmodded 875. It gets me every time how much a new pair sucks for my feet lol. These are feeling better already but they def made me realize there's something wrong with my big toe hahaha, little thing called a 'pinch callus' always gets buggered with a new pair.
