Y’2 Leathers….

@popvulture
it’s the LB-140 ANILINE BLACK HORSE HIDE TYPE 1 JACKET.
the leather is a little thinner than the usual eco horse and feels/ looks different because it’s aniline dyed and not tea core. I absolutely love this leather !@indigostiff
it’s lined -
Just came in today and I’m beyond stoked on it. This is a 52 I have the camel I got a year ago in a 50 as well. They fit similarly in the chest but this has a wider waist so it’ll be more comfortable with a shirt or hoody under it. I need a leather next but finding one my size is a bit tough
-
Man, I'm disappointed to report that I can barely wear my KAK 140 without discomfort. The worst part is the inside of my arms at the elbows. I dont have massive biceps and arms. I don't work out at all. But man, the leather there seems to bunch up, seemingly because it's thick horsehide, and it bruises the ish out of me. I picked up the size 42 which is quite form fitting. I wonder if the 44 would be any better. Is this an issue with most HH jackets or does anyone else have a similar experience? Thanks again for everyone's time and any insights they can share.

@Rooney-04
Are you talking about the KB 140? -
@Rooney-04 sorry to hear that… If it’s a matter of the leather being rigid, and needing the soften up, or to have more mobility at your elbows or shoulders… The leather will do that. If you need the leather to stretch or get bigger, it won’t do that unfortunately
My best advice would be to wear it, every day, for a few weeks and see what happens! The resale value will not be too different now if you do that
-
Mine isn’t completely uncomfortable, I just can’t try to drink a beer or coffee, or drive a windy road. Isn’t this normal when wearing a thick leather HH jacket?
-
@99Tjadams I think that is normal for the first 50-100 wears, but should improve after that!
-
@Buckeye
Ok. It mostly happens when I'm trying to wear it (KB 140) at my desk and I'm using the PC, drinking my coffee/water, and sitting with my arms bent at my side. I also noticed the liner is sewed along this part of the arm in the sleeve and the material in mine seems to overlay itself there which adds a little more material to the area being impacted. I'll keep trying to wear it every day to see if the leather releases and softens up. Fingers crossed this jacket can serve me for the next 20! Thanks for the input gents. -
Rooney, I know what you mean, when I’m wearing mine and moving my arms around to try to break it in more I feel the same seam digging in near my elbows.
Mine was pre owned but looked pretty new, I wore it watching a few movies, few dog walks and car drives, then sprayed mine down with a spray bottle with distilled water, went for a 40 min drive, layer down flat overnight, wore a few more times, then rubbed mustang paste into it with my fingers.
It’s softer now, but on the downside I think my nice crisp sleeve wrinkles I had have softened maybe too much and flattened out a little. I liked them looking more bunched up before, so not 100% sure I would use the mustang paste so soon next time, probably should have waited longer. -
Several shots from today of the Y’2 leather rough out Type III jacket. I like it a lot!

Perfect fit on that

I’ll add my two cents on sizing. I’m 6’3-6’4, 190ish pounds and have a fairly long torso. I usually fit in XL iron heart jackets and size up to XXL in UHF’s for extra length in the body. I bought a 44 in the Henry western directly from TJ a couple years ago. Beautiful jacket and colour, I really like it.
In retrospect I wish I bought a 46. I find the 44 a bit restrictive in the chest and quite tight in the armpits. It was very expensive so I haven’t just gone out and bought a bigger size. Should I stumble across an extra few grand I will sell my 44 and size up. I would 100% recommend sizing up at least a size in the westerns.

Beautiful new red chore jacket (with a zip and snaps) from TJ at The Shop Vancouver. Interesting (and slightly concerning) to see the price increases for horsehide, with this one coming in north of $2400 (with customs on top, for most of us). The Real McCoy’s Buco J-100 has also gone up from $1600 to $2430. I wonder if this is more the price/availability of horsehide, or the general Japanese economy.

@Buckeye
the new red shore jacket looks absolutely stunning really digging it
but asked myself the same question about pricing .
I looked up some prices in Japan and it’s much cheaper there. For example the Grizzly jackets from Double Helix. -
@Buckeye @Daniel-San I was following the process of TJ wearing the sample and love everything about it but the price is just way too much for me .. I can't tell if it's maybe worth it but no matter how much I like this jacket, I can't wrap my head around 2.5k+++ on a single piece of clothing. Still thinking about one of the chores

I don’t doubt that it’s worth the price… but the idea of being unable to try it on (as I suspect it’ll be pre-order only for this jacket), along with the inconsistency of sizing just make it a difficult venture. It’s another thing I love about IH: the meticulous quality control and the availability of exact size charts prior to product release. They haven’t done any pre-orders from what I can recall, and really give every chance to ensure a piece will work out before the purchase is made
-
@Buckeye thats completely right! Offcourse IH is a much bigger operation than the shop and I am pretty sure they can handle a piece not selling the greatest better than TJ. But for me its more that 2500$ is a price i'd really have to save up for and work hard for. So like you said I would not gamble then. Also I had some expensive Leather Jackets in the past and ended up selling them and mostly because I never got the sizing right
-
@FlavourFade
the shore‘s are awesome. But you get a big bill from german customs
I had to pay almost 400€ !!!! extra for taxes . So in the end it was way more expensive than I thought. So keep that in mind when ordering . If you have any sizing questions just contact TJ on instagram. He will check all the measurements , same like the IH crew.
