Couldn’t help but follow with this masterpiece
-
@popvulture never heard of this band but am listening now on my earbuds at work and really enjoying
-
@popvulture - both of my cats are indifferent to more or less all music that is playing, and in my home its at least 16 hrs a day. they do get a bit more lethargic and sleepy when i'm playing jazz records. even when my son is blasting megadeth they just dont care. when i play EN, especially halber mensch the older cat suddenly gets all queasy with all the clanking noises and vibrato sounds. however i still think its his favourite record since he pays attention to something that is not a small bird or a large bug
-
@GraemeE if you dig Talk Talk, Bark Psychosis is a must. Really good shit. People like to bandy about the "origin of post-rock" type thing for both, to which I'm kinda like meh whatever, but there's definitely a massive influence you can hear from each of them in other bands.
@prpx my cat is equally indifferent — maybe I'll try some Throbbing Gristle!
-
also brb starting a band called Throbbing Kibble
-
-
lololol Genesis Meowwridge

Masterpiece
If anyone wants to get into the fall this one would be the best from Brix era
-
-
Not among the best Franks work but it has a great live version of “I burn today” which is a beautiful, beautiful song.
-
@prpx nice! Was just listening to Teenager of the Year the other day, would be way up in the list of my all time faves if I could ever commit to such a thing.
-
@popvulture - definitely agree. mine as well. the breakup of fantastic band resulted in two fantastic stories - frank black solo and the breeders. what more could you want. and i do think pixies broke up in time.
-
@Aetas - it is almost the same playlist, but on this live, Frank is with the band
-
@endo - yeah, pixies were (kind of are still) one of the greatest. i saw them couple of times, both with kim and paz in the lineup. I especially remember the first reunion tour. they all looked stoked to play those great songs with same love, and so awkward that they have to do it together on stage
Unfortunately couldnt find his live recordings with the band from that 2006 tour. it's like a bit tired version of his gigs with the catholics from mid 90's. Country rock vibe. -
@Aetas - i dont think you missed much to be honest. most of those songs from catholics era sounded waaay better on live concerts from the mid 90s. the newer ones sound ok. i truly appreciate FB, and i think he is one of the most interesting songwriters in last 35 years. but i also witnessed his music being dull when he and the bend are performing without much spark, this record is on that side of the table.
