@Oaktavia You’re right as it seemed like their game plan was to stop Henry at all costs, and they did a pretty good job at that. I think they also knew that ,at the end of the game, if the Ravens get the ball back, the Stop Henry train had left the station. Hence the 2 point try.

I don’t understand why the guys in NY who sometimes are allowed to chime in under the guise of Replay Assist, aren’t allowed to chime in and say we think you missed two flagrant fouls. There’s rarely a game where they don’t miss a call or make a call that has everyone scratching their head. There’s also multiple refs from different angles on every play, and on this play all the refs are down there on a relatively small part of the field.
-
@Mizmazzle Does that start with teams making complaints or is there a review process from higher ups? Did not know they were doing that but think it's much needed.

I just recently learned that the refs themselves can be fined when they miss flagrant fouls.
I don't think the refs can be fined but they should be. Please correct me if I am wrong. Players can be fined for criticizing the refs though.
Edit: during the Raven's game last Sunday against the Broncos, one of the announcers (Romo?) made a dry joke saying something along the lines of, "perhaps that ref should be fined". Is that what you heard?

I wasn’t aware the refs could be fined until I heard a commentator state a couple weeks ago, “that official will definitely be getting fined for missing that call.”
I was just reading there is an officiating committee that reviews every game and each officiant gets a review of performance after each game with training materials to improve performance. If they are consistently underperforming they can be punished and penalized, not have their year to year contracts renewed, and only the highest performing officials are used in the post season.

@goosehd You totally got me as I thought you were 100% serious. My understanding is that every week, every ref is graded on their performance and at the end of the year, the top rated refs are chosen to work the playoffs and ,ultimately, the Super Bowl. They show the replays on the screens everyone sees them.

Pretty much feel the same way about baseball...
They make bad calls because baseball is boring, a game lasts 14 hours, and after five minutes everyone has fallen asleep or is on their way to get a beer.
Cricket on the other hand is as riveting on the morning of day 1 as at the end of day 5
-
@Tago-Mago That is the beauty of baseball though...the boring part is a way to moderate and pace your drinking throughout the game.

@Tago-Mago Pretty much and waiting in line to use the urinals.
