Agree it looks like there was a totally different aesthetic chosen for rest of world.
I've loosely followed Ella's posting on Reddit and think it's super cool she made those herself and i like how she dgaf about things other nerds do like using bleach and washing a ton, but having those jeans show up in a top three should never happen with the other submissions.
-
Could hardly believe it when I saw the top 3 for ROW.
First and second place for ROW were wildcards. For an event like this I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have judges whose aesthetic sense is at odds with the community.
-
I’ll check the IG thread once in while but mostly follow updates within the forum. Just checked it now to see what all the huff is about… could not agree more. Fades seen on this thread literally looked better at the midway point
ROW -
Wish we could work out a way to have the same judges every year. Would just like to know going in what the preference is going to be.
This whole thing is super subjective.
I also don’t think I like the collage that’s made for us.
I’d rather make it myself so the quality of the images and cropping of the pics are my own doing.
All that being said I’ll sign up again because I don’t care about the prizes or recognition. -
Truth me told.
I been here on fourm. For so long by now I know who fades now and how. Including you Steve but being put down like this no need for it.
I said what I want on instagram and to Bryan face. Cause I had balls to do it.
Over last 2 years I has several people who enter are mad than you think.
Won’t enter again.
Ricky was a top. Fader from Australia he mad as fuck about it.Pinking random people out of the blues to win.
World gone mad

Well one of them left already the amount shit he got. Told me himself

In case some were unaware, it might be worth noting that there were different judging panels for ROW and SEA.
(Personally I'm not sure if that's a good idea, but that's another discussion I suppose).Seems like @Jcaz6996's only hope of winning this is to move to Southeast Asia
-
Just wanted to share this because I found it kind of interesting, I asked AI to develop a weighted scoring system for a year long raw denim competition that would promote fairness and it gave me this.
-
@JunkPants uprooting your life to win a denim competition .
I had to compare the responses here and on the results post on IG and I have to mostly agree with this thread.

Has it been explained why?
-
@Alex Not that I can remember seeing, no. But it may well have been explained somewhere unbeknownst to me.
(The official rulebook goes into the different conferences, which is new for Y4, but doesn't mention different judging panels that I can see, apart from the following: "The Southeast Asian Top 50 will be selected by long-time friend of the competition Mifflin Mabalot".
In fact, based on the wording in the rulebook I'd expect there to be just one judging panel.
"...the same judging panel...", "...a panel of judges...", "...the judging panel".Anyway, that's delving deeper into this than I care to
Overall I had a very positive experience with the whole thing, but was quite surprised to see the top 3 for ROW).

How about a new competition
Iron heart invitational
When the system is corrupted, start a revolution!

Depending on details, I'd probably be down.

@JunkPants I have no dog in this fight, but to me it makes sense to have consistent judges in all divisions. So the SEA judges prefer high contrast fades, and the ROW prefer low contrast fades, for eg, then you're all shooting for different goals without really knowing it.
Again, has nothing to do with me, but that is what I would be suggesting if I were you guys
