Anyone here play video games?

I'm on Act 3 in Paths of Exile 2.
Watched a two hour stream (second best stream of the week no doubt) of the devs talking about the updates they plan to patch into the game. It's quite something, their devs, no BS, just straight up talking about things they've got wrong and how to fix them. Obviously the game is early access but there's full transparency and respect towards their community. Big AAA studios should watch and learn.

I’ve been playing a lot with my son lately and he’s totally into Helldivers and Warhammer.
Dad?
Just kidding, but I'm basically into the same stuff as your son right now, it sounds like.
Ghost of Tsushima is awesome. It doesn't really innovate on the open-world-game template in that, yes, there will be a lot of 'repeat the same tasks in different sub-regions', but what GoT does do is dial all those things up to 11 in terms of execution and polish. The Legends multiplayer mode is good fun with friends.
I think you'll be waiting for a while for a sale though, as it was only recently on sale over Christmas and PlayStation doesn't discount their own games all that regularly. Maybe look for a second hand copy of the disc, or see if Amazon is doing it discounted or something.

I just picked up Ender Magnolia, the sequel to Ender Lilies. So far I’m really enjoying it. It’s great on the steam deck.
-
@deanclean didn't realise there was a sequel, I loved lilies!
-
@T4920 check it out! I think it just came out last week.
-
@EdH ha…Helldivers has been fun to “try” and learn but I drive my son nuts because I’m shit at ordering stratagems. I am really good at getting killed so usually bog down whatever unlucky squad gets me. It’s a fun game though and love the whole “liberty” theme. And I’ve noticed GoT doesn’t go on sale. May have to follow your advice and look second hand Would really like to run through it before the sequel releases.

@EdH almost a year after you recommended Balatro to me, my friend and I are current locked in a bitter rivalry, competing to be the first to achieve 100% completion. Including gold stickers on all jokers...
I'm currently on 688/1200, the addiction is real!
I introduced him to the mobile version when we are on holiday together last December, and it degenerated from there...

Hi fellow gamers... Playing Monster Hunter wild right now with my buddy and Kingdome Come deliverance 2 for single player. Enjoy and love both games. Great for everyone who loves RPG's that go really deep
-
@FlavourFade I can't do Monster Hunter again. I played Worlds and lost too much sleep to the "one more hunt" impulses. It was like digital crack to me. Work and relationships suffered too much.
-
@T4920 That is no small undertaking...
Sounds like you're well ahead of me. I'm stuck on the purple level (I think) with the deck that has only hearts and spades. The furthest I have taken any other deck is only to the red level, I think. Nowhere near gold on any of it, at the moment!
-
@EdH I get you, I am very easy to get addicted too... When I want a special weapon or armor and just need to hunt that one monster two times more I can't stop
With Elden Ring I even came to a point of asking myself if it's still fun or just wanting 100%

@FlavourFade I was lucky enough to have my bout of Covid just as Elden Ring launched, and I smashed through most of it in three days semi-deleriously on the couch. I got the platinum trophy a little while later.
I wasn't that enamoured by Elden Ring by the end. It re-used too many bosses - I think there were only 3 or 4 that were actually unique by the end of it - and I couldn't get into a second playthrough because I'd already done all the exploring with my first character and I thought it lost a lot of its magic when all you're doing is making a bee-line for the things you need for your build.
I finished Dave the Diver last week, and genuinely think I had more fun with that than Elden Ring, all said and done. It never failed to delight me with its silly story, charming art and cutscenes, and satisfying catch fish > cook fish > make money to get better at catching fish gameplay loop.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 looks and is amazing but I haven't picked it up. Not yet. Have got Monster Hunter Wilds. I got burnt out playing World but Wilds is a lot easier to manage hunt to hunt and if the community are claiming the campaign is too easy. End-game is where the actual meat on the bones of the game is though and no doubt the difficulty will spike.
Elden Ring, also got the plat. But not keen on Elden Ring Night Reign as you need to play as a team of 3 - it's more of a rogue type gameplay loop.
Will pick up Split Fiction to play with my kid. Looks like it might be the best co-op game ever (It Takes Two was amazing).
Also, can we talk about the second best thing out of Japan (after Iron Heart)... my boy Hideo Kojima dropping Death Stranding 2 trailer !!
Talking of METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER is another on the list.
I think I'm a video game nerd.

Δ?.. Out August 26!..

@EdH as Elden Ring was my first souls game I really enjoyed the experience but was glad when I finished it. I don't love games which so little story and only the grind made it feel like work finally. Loved the combat mechanics but wasn't enough for new game plus for me
Dave the diver is still on my pile of shame. Another game I loved recently was disco elysium. Never experienced something similar to that masterpiece!

@Nick wilds is definetely more casual and easier to manage! Kcd2 is amazing, the realism and depth of the world ist great. That's how cyberpunk should have been when it comes to worldbuilding
