Iron Heart X Simmons Bilt Horsehide Western Shirt - The Pale Rider - Natural
-
@Tobi out of interest, what size is this Tobi, and if you were to buy again from the next run, assuming you would size up?
-
@Graham does IHUK do any sort of buy 14 snaps get the 15th free, sort-o-thang???
-
@long_john86 Size is XXL, but I would need to check if the actual sizing was the problem (vis a vis my current increased size..), or how much the shrink from the soak contributed. I am in general more going oversized these days (more like the relaxed sizing @denim-dawg has going). So likely would size up to XXXL.
No further Pale Riders in my immediate future though (neither selling @goosehd nor buying).... -
Full price I am afraid but I will make sure that they don't fall off :p
-
@goosehd fair enough.. and thanks for keeping this forum a nice place! Can't be easy to balance proactive intervention with this diverse crowd!
-
@Tobi gotcha. All useful for future reference, many thanks. I think we are similar sizing and I too prefer a more relaxed fit. it’s funny how since 2020 I have crept up from XL to XXXL in most of my shirts. I’ll just go with I was buying too small in the first place, rather than I have put on some Dad bod
-
@long_john86 the hope is that there will be a short period between late middle age weight gain and terminal skinny grandpa, where the smaller shirts will fit again...

QFFT!!!!!
You are doing a great job @goosehd . This is a very tough mix of IH addicts. -
I see you mentioned that this was an XL. Mind if I ask what size you normally wear in normal IH western and/or work shirts? Are you able to fit anything other than a tshirt under your pale rider?
It sounds like we are similar size. I'm still getting used to going by actual measurements. I've got my shirt sizing down, but haven't figured out my mid and outer layer fit yet. Trying to get it right the first time seeing as the restock will certainly sell out immediately.
-
@Go-For-Chill this is xxl, same size than most of my IH western shirts. I have some key measurements below which I don't go.. for shirts that is P2P, length and arm length.. also shoulders. Had to go up recently from P2P 23.5 to ideally 24". So really follow the measurements and ignore the tag size... In particular for special items like the pale rider. Also careful when reading through old threads that discuss sizing often refering to previous runs of the same item...
-
Good advice. So, for you, you went with your normal western shirt sizing when you bought your pale rider, but wish you had went one size up?
-
@Go-For-Chill yeah.. my normal size, but it is complicated since I soaked the shirt partly because it was a bit big at the time. Shirt shrank a bit, and in the meantime I got larger.. Bottom line is that the shoulders and chest are now too tight and I am currently not wearing the shirt. Btw for me this shirt is not really an overshirt (even if it was large enough) .. since it flares a bit when open, and I prefer hand warmer pockets for overshirts...

Maybe this belongs in the other thread, but I feel the same way about the big buck in how it flares out. Wondering if this is just how Simmons bilt cuts their shirts?
-
Totally hypothetical and assuming they would want this changed at all, but... I'm curious if IH/SB's "fix" for the flare would be taking in the bottom, or letting out the mid section. When I see a shirt with this look, my eyes see a skinny mid section more than a flared bottom hem. Sort of like having your shirt darted.
-
@Tobi You look so great in this, and honestly, you have made such a wonderful patina on it. I have never seen or tried on this version of the rider, but it seems to me that most of them do "shrink" a little with wear? At least this one has gone from being oversized to pretty darn tailor-cut-snug
-
@matt_rost 187 days? Phew! Dude!! Your patina here is just SOLID
Amazing. Well done and so much fun!! Love how different it looks and, not sure how you feel, but there is little that beats blue jeans, white t and then this pale rider..
Enjoy the nest two months pal!

@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot So cool!
-
@denim-dawg cheers, mate! There’s a lot of horse in that pic
