Photograph and Camera talk

Hard to compare a compact to an DSLR… Any DSLR will give you an advantage as far as IQ is concerned because of the larger sensor.. But it can be tiring to lug around. If you don't mind that, go for it. I don't know about this specific Canon model, they have different designations over here in Europe. Hope I could help a little.

I have a T3i and I love it. The T2i is basically a T3i just without a swivel screen. Like holla said it is an upgrade from a compact camera and it can be annoying to carry around (although I don't mind). So what I like about this camera is that it takes exceptional quality images (I blame the lens for sub-par images), it is really easy to use once you get the hang of it and I can't really say anything bad about it.
The only thing I wish I would have done was save the extra $100 get the body and get a good first lens. Trust me but the kit lens is very limited if you start shooting certain things. It is good to experiment in what you want to photograph but after that once you find out what you like it doesn't satisfy enough (if that makes sense).

Just picked up a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens. Should be here some time next week!

Thanks holla and laxlife1234 for your responses the insight.
I am sort of out growing my G10 in shots that I want to take but just can't because of the limitation the G10 has lens and speed wise.
I know the lug factor as well as the price point on the lens' I am looking at but it should hopefully be well worth it with the added ability. Now to also start looking for a nice back pack
