IH-634S-B - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Overdyed Indigo

Good god, if useless posts weren't allowed, Seul and Megatron would never participate here…
-
They are coming along nicely. I might try to sell and size up one or two for a looser fit.
-
What size/length are they?
-
They are 33 x 34

634sb at 7 years!

Nice pair man! I love this denim and how slow it fades. I have been considering the 888 OD for some time now.
-
No joke! I could’ve faded at least two normal pairs of IH into retirement as much as I’ve worn them. The overdye seems (at least from the threads that are fraying on my hems) to have penetrated deep into the yarn. It’s more like a hank-dyed pair in terms of how it has faded after all these years. Happy with the modest progress nevertheless

This is my only pair of IH denim so far but I'm very impressed with them. I hope mine look that cool in a few years.

Everyone should have a pair of this denim in their rotation, in whatever cut works best, in my opinion. Effortlessly stubborn and graceful
Left: Old
Right: Newish -
@adam313, fantastic man. Well done. Needed this motivation to get mine back into rotation. I was thinking maybe(?) the contemporary OD stuff may be more fade stubborn than say the IHSH-99, original OD-33 et al. (original OD method). But yours likely used the same process. Certainly seems that way after my 99 turned so quick. Different fabric, etc. Just curious.
-
@Jdub I would say the OG OD is more fade stubborn than the contemporary OD. The fade retarding chemicals/processes of the old denim are proprietary mysteries, but I think they were abandoned years ago in favor of whatever they do now, which is more fade friendly. The old 634sb are from 8+ years ago (they were riffblaster’s before they were mine) and likely resemble the ancient 21oz. I also have a 99 and an IHD-01.od and had a 17.od and 27.od and 43.od, each of which is slightly different. I have a 141.od and that fades quicker than all of the older ones. Different fabrics, different mills, maybe even different dye services, Indigo dips, fugitive dyes, so many variables…

Word. Remember getting into Japanese denim (all of idk 6 years back) and reading folks opining about the lack of diversity in IH (likely referring to Haraki San fade hate-kidding! haha) and the 21oz. With the unparalleled IMHO construction, they actually last longer than a crotch blowout and we see some really amazing outcomes that look naturally worn instead of super high contrast fades (which are awesome too of course).
