WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY (PICS)
-
I’m at our farm for the first time in months. No kids, no noise, and nobody but me (a little Thoreau-ish @Mizmazzle @ARNC) I may or may not get drunk. I may or may not have an insane bonfire. The possibilities are actually kinda paralyzing. Wish my Iron Heart forum peeps could be here to share a beer with me!
Cheers everyone! -
@SKT That looks amazing! I'm here in the noisy city of Sacramento (married with a 4 and 6 year old) and often dream of having a spot to retreat to where I can bask in the quiet of nature. Enjoy the peace.

@MisterEclectic my kids are 9 and 12…I know exactly where you’re coming from. Honestly, when I go from the noise of kids to here it’s a little weird feeling at first. My nervous system thinks I’m playing a trick on it…ha!
-
@SKT lol I hear you. The rare occasions where my wife and I have been able to slip away for a day or two, we find ourselves talking about our kids - we ascribe this fact to some kind of mental derangement from which we are suffering. I'm also a high school teacher, so noise and neediness are nearly constant in my world. Your farm looks idyllic.
-
@MisterEclectic I think almost everything involving kids can fall under “mental derangement”. Thanks man…cheers to you

@Mizmazzle I mean it’s not Hamburg but it could be big fun if you like rural Missouri and towns with populations around 1000. I will sip some whiskey for you tonight my man and maybe someday we’ll have an Iron Heart “Americana” get together!

@SKT I had met Dave Perkins, the founder of High West,at an event in NYC,called Whiskey Fest. Super nice personable guy. Anyway we’re talking about bourbon and rye and he pulls out a mason jar and says here try this, it’s something new I’m working on called Campfire. Not being a fan of scotch I didn’t like it,but bought a bottle to offer to friends who preferred Scotch. He was a biochemist who was doing research on drugs to treat cancer, when he took a tour at Makers Mark, and the rest is the proverbial history. At some point High West was bought out by Constellation Brands, and they parted ways with him. I think he got about $126 million and a noncompete clause. I would also love to have a drink with you!

@Jett129 man that’s an awesome story. I’ve enjoyed a bunch of High West offerings. I like peated Scotch and I like bourbon so the campfire was a natural for me. I just nip at it but it’s especially good around a…campfire. A drink someday would be awesome.
@Matt I beat on Missouri a lot but the fact is my people have been around here since forever. Our farm has been in my family since 1903… not that long compared to our European friends but a long time for here I think. I can’t believe Katie and the girls didn’t beg you to stop in MO during your adventure! Coulda seen Bass Pro Shops
