WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY (PICS)
-
@Mizmazzle - we were just sat round listing everything we’ve done so far, and it’s been a lot, rain notwithstanding. The only fail has been going 91 stories up Summit One into a complete white out.
Helicopter today made up for it though…
Loving that we’re close enough to the holidays for things to be festive around the city, but not too close to be cloying…just yet.

@Nocturama please tell me you didn’t recreate this scene:

Today I visited the Valhalla of boots, Wesco. It just amazes me that this little town of Scappoose, Oregon is revered around the globe. I’m gonna pull the trigger on a custom fitting and wait the 12 months for a pair.
-
@Inorganic Well worth the wait for a pair of boots that you can wear for the rest of your life! Looks awesome
@goosehd Minor league hockey games are so much fun! I’ve been to a handful of San Diego Gulls games back when I lived there. Always a blast! Next year I want to take my son out to a minor league baseball game. The Round Rock Express are the Texas Rangers minor league team here in Austin, TX.
-
@Danimal506 I love watching minor league baseball. In fact, most sports I would rather watch minor league’s and collegiate.
That will be awesome for you and your son. My first baseball game still holds special memories for me
-
@Danimal506 if you want to check out some hockey the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL farm team, plays out of HEB Center in Cedar Park. Always a good time.
-
@Inorganic Absolutely worth the wait, and worth the small (lifetime) custom fit fee. Congrats!

@WhiskeySandwich My wife and I call that a "snow moon" but I'm not sure if it has a real name. Maybe we should create a thread for interesting things like this. I have an idea for one. I'll do a little digging and see if one exists yet, and I'll report back.
-
@goosehd They recommend every five years. I updated mine once, and it was great knowing that my boots were going to fit me perfectly. I actually credit Wesco for helping me find Iron Heart. It was probably the summer of 2011, and I was tired of ill-fitting boots, and started searching for something better. I came upon Wesco, and ordered my first pair of Boss boots. That somehow led me to discovering other nice things, and that led me to the Iron Heart forum. And the rest is history. Imagine how happy I was years later when IH started doing collabs with Wesco. A match made in heaven.
-
@seawolf Same here as Wesco was my gateway drug to all things better. Bought stock Boss Wesco’s that didn’t fit quite right, went custom, and down the rabbit hole I went. Went from Wesco to IH and still expanding…
This place has been a learning curve for all great things that weren’t on my horizon.
-
@seawolf I agree with all of your points. When I went into the shop I was only expecting to check it out, see the factory and try on some boots. But it hit me that I should just pull the trigger on custom - hell, life is too short am I right? The fella working in the show room (a 5th generation from the Shoemaker family) said they're training up more staff which should reduce order times to 12 months - he also said that when they get leathers in and there are those that don't pass their quality threshold they say 'send 'em to Whites' - it was in jest of course, but it was a moment that made me realize how lucky we are in the PNW to have so many quality craftsman (I have Whites snow boots and love them )
@goosehd I appreciate that they keep your measurements on file and allow for free updates beyond that, do feet really change shape that much? I'm not sure, but now I know that I don't have to worry about it lol
-
@Inorganic From my understanding, feet flatten and widen with age. You can gain both length and width in your shoe size and can attest mine have. Also with time people can develop bunions, fallen arches, hammer toes, etc. One of those that you would definitely like to have custom fitting shoes for those ailments.
