@Jestocost:

Perhaps it's less that they don't understand, so much as they want to know if anyone's had as-good or better results following a different procedure? I know many XHS owners (yourself included IIRC, but correct me if I'm wrong) don't follow the official IH instructions for breaking in that denim. Maybe all these posters are curious if the veterans of the last UHR run came up with an alternate process for this one, too?

IDK, I think the directions are pretty crystal, and I am not a smart man. I'd like to believe that the rest of these folks aren't asking from lack of comprehension.

Haha thank you! I feel like the directions are completely clear and understandable. I also think there’s a bit of room for interpretation as with almost any bit of language. Plus like you said, there are a lot of people who’ve got plenty of helpful stuff to say about their own experiences.

What I’ve taken away from washing raw denim, this time included, is that if they fit you at the beginning in the waist, then they will return to that dimension and possibly more after soaking/washing and some wears. My main fear in the past has been that a pair of jeans would shrink to the point of being unwearable, but frankly I just haven’t had that happen as long as the jeans weren’t too tight from the get go.

Side note: the only denim I’ve encountered that seemingly just won’t stretch much at all is Momotaro. Oy, that was a disappointment.

Anyway, these are ready to rock. Just need to wear them in my air conditioned house until the fall

First time in UHR.  Was honestly hoping for a rougher hairier texture being loomstate but still very nice denim constructed to the Iron Heart level of quality that keeps me interested.

Thanks PJ. I would have never bought the Viyella just from the online pics. Saw it in the shop and immediately took it with me. My go to during this summer if I need a shirt.

Wow great fit, thru look perfect on you @Dmart. I passed on the shirt however looks like that was an mistake….

My jeans have been soaked, washed with no spin and now in the garden drying.

A little warm in MD for these. Waiting on the 888 which will most likely be stored away until winter.

One soak, one wash 30°C no spin. Not as much shrinkage as expected, will give them another wash with 40°C.
Less stiff after the wash, almost comfortable.

Thx @Kasi would love to wear the UHR in 666 but I am pretty sure I won't want to squeeze my thighs in
