@og:
….just had someone drop a bottle of bleach (lid off of course) right behind me
sad day for all involved
Please tell me that person is in a bath of acid right now, awaiting a midnight burial at the nearby woods?..
Yeah permanent bleach spots all down the back of my legs
Yes they got a verbal acid bath for sure!!!! and a nice little sticker shock when they found out how much a replacement pair will be
my bigger issue with the whole thing is who leaves the bleach bottle cap unscrewed? how savage can you be?
-
so they gonna pay for a new pair? if yes then congrats, a new journey of raw to begin.
-
at least you got it back. a mate of mine had his pbj damaged with shit load of paint. the guy just apologized. that's all. nothing done.
-
Dam sorry man! If it was me I would honestly be butt hurt for days lmao..
-
just wondering, is the 634S slimmer in cutting as compared to the 501s thats commercially available or are they the same? also for the 634S, do you need to soak it first like the 666S before 1st wear or its ready to be thrash from day 1?
-
Not sure how the cut compares, but you're going to find different opinions on whether or not you should soak first. Technically, it's sanforized, so you don't need to soak to get rid of shrinkage. Some people feel that it's healthier for the denim to soak first. I'm in the latter group, if for nothing else, it gets rid of some of the indigo transfer from loose indigo

you mean, you still choose to soak it to prevent indigo transfer? i always hear people saying raw denim should not be washed with at least 6 months usage else the indigo would bleed when wash. so many different theory to make us confused. URGH!!!
-
Not washing your jeans for six months was something Nudie came up with years ago. Basically, not washing your jeans for that long will promote high contrast fades (because all of the indigo, even the indigo that will transfer easily, is mostly there, except for the high abrasion areas) and set combs
Ultimately, your jeans are a reflection of you. I'm not particularly fussy with my jeans, and my jeans reflect that.
Worrying about how often I wash or don't wash my jeans, the placement of combs, wearing them while still damp would drive me nuts

Now that sucks big time. Hopefully your mate had some good karma come his way after that!!!
nooblet333 - I've been unable to sit since it happened! lol

Volcano, I'm with Doug on this- soaking jeans before your first wear shouldn't affect the size any, but it will get rid of a little excess loose indigo, plus any residual starch and/or sizing that may be left over from the manufacturing process.
As for when you wash them, whether you wear them damp, etc., etc., etc., well, don't stress about it too much. Whatever you do is what makes them uniquely yours.
-
Volcano, hope you don't mind me asking : how old are you?
me? 22. My apology if I ask too many questions cos I'm rather new to these jeans. I've got many pairs of jeans that were bought wrongly thus I'm very paranoid when it comes to online purchases of clothes.
as for the washing part, cos I'm confused as to why the 666S requires soaking and the 634S doesn't. then I've heard people saying wash after 6 months for raw denim, dry clean the raw denim, sun the denim but don't wash and etc. thats why I'm confused as to how we should care for these IH jeans.

Volcano.
666s are raw and unsanforised, the 634S are sanforised, hence a different approach is required. Read here:

thanks alot. will read it.

Sanforized vs unsanforized doesn't necessarily mean washed vs unwashed
It means that sanforized is pre-shrunk, and unsanforized will still shrink when wet
Washed vs raw is another one to be aware of. Raw denim tends to bleed onto adjacent fabrics. Pre washed jeans are oftentimes referred to as "one wash" or OW
The 634S is raw, unwashed and sanforized
There are other things to think about: sizing down can lead to blown seams and crotches. Some feel that not washing for long periods of time will also cause premature wear in your jeans.
Depends on what you want. Not washing and sizing down will cause the highest contrast fades. A happy medium will lead to a long life with your jeans and a fading you like. You're going to have to figure that out for yourself according to how you wear your jeans, where you wear your jeans, where you live, etc. All these things affect fading properties and longetivity of your denim
