IH-555S-UHR - 21/23oz Ultra Heavy Raw Selvedge Denim Super Slim Cut Jeans
-
Me and the boy at the farmers stand. Uhr on bottom 526L-OD up top. I love this denim.
-
@hgering27 looks superb on you mate! Lovely kid! And killer combo
-
@Heavy_blue thanks man! The OD jacket is probably my favorite jacket I own. It’s a tank. I’ll be wearing this combo a lot

The facts of the matter are that soaking lubricates the cotton threads in such a way that they puff up and the constructional stitching integrates better.
The machine wash creates the agitation needed to contract the fibres making the denim 23oz per square yard. This also means shrinkage.
Following instructions will get the shrinkage out, strengthen the fabric and the stitching. Not followimg them may mean stitching popping out, early tears appearing at creased points, or nasty shrink related surprises at a later date.
Didn’t know that… was sceptical putting my jeans in the machine a few months back so soaked them twice when I first had them thinking it’s doing the same job.
So soaked them again yesterday inside out for 1hour and put them straight in the machine 30c No spin.
Results they have tightened up lovely lost half inch in the length and 0.8 in the waist
Perfect fit now
Wearing them today they have relaxed in the waist already nice and comfy… -

Let create some resurrection in this thread! UHR for the win, it’s in rotation with XHSbb and XHSib i think around 50 wears in them!
-
I can never see enough of this denim–electric blues and hairy goodness for days!!

Honest opinions, how are these looking?
Coming from the 666, the higher rise and roomier top block feels a little strange.. and I can't help but feel like they are puffing out a bit around the thighs...
They're my normal size (34) and I'd probably trade for a 33 if I'd bought direct, but got these from the marketplace. Worth keeping? I know the denim will drape better as it breaks in but I'm not sure...
They've been soaked already according to the seller.
-
@T4920 think they look good man! I love a relaxed kinda fot and are they soaked only or washed as well? They will shrink a little extra when washed
-
@T4920 How do you want them to fit, mate? I don't think that they look objectively bad, but if you were after a true slim/superslim fit then they may be a bit loose. If that is the case, I would suggest perhaps soaking them, then immediately washing them to get whatever shrinkage is left out, then reassess. If you're still not happy, flip them and size down.
-
@Alex Ideally I'd like them a little more fitted, but as @Heavy_blue said they'll shrink when I wash them! Ideally I'd like to avoid that until necessary, as I'd like these to become a high contrast pair (making the most of the stiff denim and slimmer leg) but flicking through these UHR threads has me fearing fade shifts...
I hate to be so pedantic, but you know more than most how idiosyncratic us denim-heads can be ahaha.
-
@T4920 they will relax over time! It will take a little longer then a XHS. The washing process is for settling the stitching/threads as well! I have the 555 UHR as well and i washed them on low temperature without the spin cycle and they didn’t shrink that much.. also over time the waist will stretch back to pre wash. I lost more in length then in the waist for example

@T4920 Fit is so subjective so generally speaking there's no right or wrong but in my opinion it looks like the 555 cut just isn't the cut for you. That or you might have sized wrong and may need to size down as long as the measurements still work for you if course.
I think you need a decent amount of junk in the trunk to make the 555 cut work. I never rocked the 555 cut over the years but recently I put on some weight with a significant amount being in my glutes and thighs and now the 555 cut is my preferred cut as long as the thigh measurement is on the larger side of its respective tag size.
Just my two cents for what its worth.
