IH-888S-UHR - 21/23oz Ultra Heavy Raw Selvedge Denim High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans

@Oaktavia that's progress Buddy, even on your xhs in just 30 days
-
@Fades-for-future thanks man, I am happy with the progress so far. The UHR is so crunchy and crispy. I had them turnup cuffed for the first few weeks and then decided to single cuff and stack 'em. I haven't faded jeans with stacks properly yet, so I'm looking forward to and excited about that.

@Oaktavia will keep following your progress on both Jeans fella

@Mizmazzle it's an amazing denim! While 25oz is my favorite, this is too in many ways. It's a little less thick, but the creases stay put with UHR. Really crisp folds, especially if you get the areas wet where you want folds to stay put. It's hairy in texture and a beautiful cowboy blue too. It's terrific stuff really, I really love it a lot. And I think the fit is better than my XHSib. I highly recommend UHR my dude.

I have a pair of 888s-18oz. in size 35 that have stretched to a comfortable, trim fit. Waist started out at 34.5" and is now 35.5" after about two weeks of wear. I wouldn't want them any trimmer across the waist or hips, but the fit is good.
I'm considering a pair of 888s-UHR and am trying to decide between size 35 and 36. While I could see sticking with the same size (35) and waiting for stretch, I'm wondering if 36 may be a better option with this thicker, heavier duty denim. If they're a bit big after a warm soak, might a warm wash and few minutes in the dryer (sacrilege of sacrileges) bring them in a bit more?
-
@JohnM . If you are happy with the way the 18oz fit you I will go same tag size on the UHR
-
@JohnM I'd stick with the same tag size. I started with the 888s-21oz before I got my 888s-UHR, I went with the same tag size and I'm happy I did. My 21oz 888s were pretty tight when I fist got them but they've stretched to near perfection. My UHRs have slightly more room and I've given them about 10 hot washes and short hot drys.

Thanks yannis and Subprime. It's always tempting to size up, but it sounds like you both speak from experience. My 888s-18 (35) were tight when I first put them on but they have definitely stretched out over two weeks, which was not a great surprise.
I'm less experienced with UHR and its shrinkage and stretch characteristics, but if I go with the same size (35), it will likely be 'hell' for the first day or two, and I will doubt myself. But with finger strength, patience, and one less dessert, hope springs eternal.

@JohnM. Look at the measurements of the UHR. They start bigger than the 18oz. They will shrink but after wear you will end up with the pre soak/ wash measurements. The only measurements that will stay is the inseam shrinkage and any shrinkage in the hem width. Waist, hip and thigh will stretch back to pre soak measurements.
