IH-526J-SLB - 16oz Slubby Selvedge Denim Type III Jacket - Indigo
-
I am fairly new to the denim world and learning a lot from you guys so far! My 20th Anniversary UHF is arriving today and I currently have an unworn IH 14oz Indigo Type III (purchased at a local shop) that still has the tags attached and I am seriously considering swapping it for this 16oz Slubby version. The texture of the denim looks really amazing on this version, but can anyone help me understand the difference in overall feel of the fabric on the Slubby version? Does the wavy appearance give it a softer hand? What are the unique fade characteristics of the 16oz Slubby denim? Is the fit pretty much the same? Thanks!

@SaddleSC I have a 14oz overdyed type III and am now the proud owner of this jacket too.
1st comparisons are that the 16oz slub is soft in that is more maliable when worn…it feels coarser to the touch because the loom chatter causes the uneven texture. The 14oz is 'smooth' to the touch, it is also slightly more rigid (but not uncomfortable!) when worn.
I think the 16oz slub looks like it could give up some quite unique fading in time, but will take a bit of wear to get there.
It feels very breathable to me, much more so than the 14oz.
I am usually an xxl in IH type III, but had to size up to XXXL in the 16oz. It fits great, I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the great info! I look forward to seeing some pics when you get a chance:)

Looks great! I'm pleased about the length on the medium. Can't justify this as I have the regular indigo type III already, if there's ever a black/cream version in the future I'd pick that up.
I have the 16oz slubby jeans and the material is quite nice! If you are on the fence but interested in the texture, I'd say go for it!

I'm surprised Olly doesn't wear an XL for this one

@Stuart.T can we trouble you for some snaps, mate? Love to see this one in the wild…

I am so stumped on what size to get. I am a small in UHF's and they fit perfectly. I would probably wear this jacket Overtop. Would it be best to get a M? I do like a snug fit and I do imagine this would stretch a bit.
-
@ackoasis Just got it today and I took my normal size I would with my UHF which is a large. For me I'm not sure I could layer too much with it. But I think a size up would be too big for me especially in the arms. Sleeve openings are tightish.
Boy oh boy is this a jacket though. Absolutely stunning and fit is spot on!
If it helps, I could try it with my UHF underneath or a pullover and see how it goes

Any more of these coming in?

I wish the cut was different on this, just tried on the xxxl and its a no go. I wear a xxl in the black sherpa lined and that fits awsome.
-
hi guys, what you guy think on the fit? do i looks small on me? just worry about the shirking.
-
@thooy05 if you're worried about shrinkage, size up to be safe? It looks great on you, but more akin to a traditional Type 3 as opposed to the modified cut (slightly longer on the body) that this is.
Haven't had any hands on experience with the IH slub denim, but I'd imagine it'd tighten up slightly with anything other than cold washes..
-
@thooy05 Looks perfect if you ask me. I tend to prefer a traditional/shorter fit with type 3 jackets though.
And if it's one thing I've learned around these parts it's that there are endless ways to wear your denim, all personal choice in the end. If you would be happier with a size up, go for it. Looks great as it is though.
