Leather Patches…faves, care or lack there of.
-
@Mizmazzle You are not alone! It just took me a while to reach this post.
I treat the patches like I would footwear or really any leather thing - as much brushing and as often as the time allows.
And for conditioning I tend to go more and more for Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP. In the past I used Saphir Renovateur but it had the tendency to leave the residual heavy wax inside patch carvings. At present my favorite patch is one from an oversized pair of IH-888S-21 that I been washing in increasingly warm water until reaching 95 degrees Celsius in last wash.
The color and the leather structure changed so much.

Great thread @Mizmazzle
I love the octopus 888 patches
Here’s my thrashed 21oz patch, not much care taken except some mink oil here
The new 888 SBG patch is already a favorite.
Also love the UHR patch. Still looking pretty good - has only seen water twice

i started out with Obenauffs on my 1st IH666XHS and again with IHxVS777S21s which caused them to darken way quicker than i wanted and in the case of the VSs made the image illegible. i began using Bicks4 on the rest and have been very pleased with its treatment. been a while since i’ve done a group photo so will get that done soon. but yes. patches influence my purchases. ️

I hope whenever the 634 ducks show up, the patch will have a similar graphic. That said, slightly a bummer that a different number will result in a notably less satanic duck

@popvulture speaking of satanic…this is my all time favorite patch. That cattle skull is fucking rad! Sadly, I don’t have this patch on any of my own pants. Bought these very small jorts off my buddy just so I could have the patch. Thinking about sewing it onto a hat.
