@Brian LOVE the vintage rugby painting. Getting lost in the texture of the foreground leaves on the right hand side.

I am starting a new painting and if this one is successful in my mind I plan to begin a series. All large scale on gesso'd drop cloth canvas. Here I am applying the second coat of gesso using a roller made for ceilings on a rod. So far I am feeling pretty confident this will work out.
The content of the painting is flora and fauna from around the area in which I live.
Hard to see fine lines but I have an oak and hickory forest in there along with hellebore plants on the left with oak leaves and acorns in brown conte on the right.I am going experiment with some of the ferns in the backyard. I plan to roll paint onto part of a leaf and try to print it onto the canvas. I'll also start paint in the trees regularly in the background tomorrow and maybe parts of the buck. I want to paint the buck with a piebald coat. I have seen two juvenile piebald white tailed deer in the area and was inspired by their odd beauty. Below is a photo of one I took from last winter I will use for partial reference.
Edit: some of the legs on the buck need widening...
