NEW Changes to the Marketplace
-
Recently we implemented a 20-post requirement to view/participate in The Marketplace. We did this for three main reasons:
-
We were getting a lot of scammers/fraudsters working the threads.
-
This is a forum, it is a place to talk and communicate, The Marketplace is a small part of what we want the forum to be, so we wanted to try and encourage communication. This was so that we could learn more about the people who interact here daily, and so that buyers and sellers would feel more comfortable with each other, and more confident that the person on the other end of financial transactions was a trustworthy member.
-
Some members were getting frustrated by "Recent Posts" and/or "Unread Topics" being clogged up by multiple sales threads.
Since the migration to new software for the forum, we have seen a radical drop in the number of scammers who manage to join. It is evident that the new software's better security features are working more effectively than those on the previous iteration.
It has also become apparent that a lot of people simply don't want to be an active part of our community; they just want to buy and sell. Whilst that is not the primary reason for having a forum, we understand that it is important to some members.
Given the above, we have decided to remove the 20-post requirement. Please be aware, that whilst we will do our best to spot and remove any scammers/fraudsters, some may get through the net. As such:
-
All trades, purchased, or sold items done on the forum are between the two parties involved.
-
We will not be responsible for any bad trades, purchases, or sold items and you will need to do your own due diligence and own your decisions.
If we see stuff for sale that we deem inappropriate or continued bad behaviour or poorly managed sales threads, we will have no hesitation in deleting such posts and potentially banning the member.
Finally, if you want to ignore posts from the marketplace altogether (or any other board), you can do that by navigating to each board, for example Buying and Selling, then changing this setting to either 'Not Watching' or 'Ignoring'. See below:
