Manchester (UK)

Hey folks, anyone got any hints or tips for Manchester for sights, shopping, eating and drinking?
Heading down this weekend for a couple of nights and no plans at all beyond a gig on Sunday.
Cheers!

Yes, eat at Mr Thomas' Chop House, it's fucking brilliant.

Yes indeed, seconded. Also, if you're looking for a good all day breakfast, sandwich or decent Sunday lunch, try Katsouris Deli & Cafe on Deansgate - they're short on seating and get very busy at lunchtime, but it's great.
Edwards of Manchester on Deansgate for quality footwear and great service, Waterstone's on Deansgate for general books. Police Street and King Street (off Deansgate) have some decent watch porn, as well as a Belstaff shop (upper King Street).
Try Oi Polloi for shopping as well, it's got some interesting stuff but not huge amounts of stock. Oldham Street has some interesting shops and the Ran shoe shop in the Barton Arcade (off Deansgate/St Ann's square).
The museum at the university is pretty good, especially if you like dinosaurs. Off the beaten track though, but might be near your gig, depending on where it's at.
The science museum is also good, but it's down the far end of Deansgate and off a bit.

Great stuff!
I think Mr Thomas' will be the venue for Sunday lunch
