I have a black one and blue one here, both in large, from last year, sizing is the same, but they have patches instead of embroidery.  Pics on the site as soon as the page is up…

Do these run a size big like their ancestors?  Are you wearing a medium?

Is it difficult to remove the embroidery?

No, but Haraki and I are not 100% sure that the fabric will not show some scarring.  It is exactly the same stitching as was used on the CPO jacket and that could be removed no problem, buy the underlying fabric was a thick wool and therefore more forgiving…..

would have been better "looking" though, if the pocket-flap would have been sewn on a tiny bit higher,so the bartack wouldn't be visible!...that's just bitchin on the highest level possible though
