^One caveat though, Vari won't declare lower values on the customs form …

I'll vouch for Vari, 2nd and add Rodeo Bros. Good experiences for me with all three.

…40 = large, 42 = xlarge.
I should add, for people wondering how to size, that I've ended up settling on the 40 (pictures coming soon). I've had the 42 for almost a year now but always thought that I should've sized down. Last week, I ordered the 40. It fits like I figured it would, much tighter, especially on the body, which is what I was looking for.
I should add that I'm about 5'9 (~176cm) and 185lbs (84kg), athletic build (42.5" in the chest). Also, I don't plan on layering, this thing pretty much only goes on over a tshirt.

The fit pick looks great, really spot on.
I'm 5'10 and 175lbs so I'm def. going with a 40. Thanks man, I appreciate it.Glad I could help
The mistake that I made originally, in buying the 42, was sizing this like a jacket, and not like a flannel or even a shirt, which is more how it's supposed to fit. That's at least the case for me, since I don't plan on stacking this on top of sweaters.

Ideally, I would like to have two type IIIs: one fitted and one sized up.
Currently, I wear mine fitted, much like an over shirt but I'm also a fan of having one in a larger fit. Larger sizing looks cool too, much like Rocket wears his:
Consider also the way Beatle wears her's:

This may not be a consideration for some, but I also like the idea of having jackets I can wear as if I get larger when I get older. A type III is so classic, one could easily wear it at any stage in life.

I was a size 40 in my 20s and am now a size 42 in my type III. I'm also in much better shape now. I would also be comfortable in a size 44. My point is an extra inch or two in a type III make sense. If one sizes like Rocket, for example, there's room later in case you need it later. The reality is most people will. The type III is one of the most versatile jackets there is. You can go up size or two and it's still looks cool.

I think you should size down one, what size is that?
