Merz beim Schwanen

I'm the weirdo that went XL on 1600 and XXL on 2S14. 2S14s have been hot washed and hot dried for shrink and now fit pretty well if a bit boxy. 1600s were smooth and sleek from the get go and continue to be that way with relatively careful washing. All depends on the fit you want and how you will wear it I reckon.

I love Merz B so much but feck their sizing is hard to pin down. Wildly inconsistent between different items. The one bit of sanity I've been able to cling to though is that stuff in the relaxed fit usually is L for me, XL in the classic. For whatever reason, that heavy tee fabric is always in relaxed, or at least that's all I've seen it in. Maybe because it's hotter and they figured hey, give it more breathing room? Anyway, I think that one looks really good on you @jerkules — I'm much more a fan of tees being a little loose vs a little too small.

@popvulture i’ve got the same ‘issue’ but indeed solved it to go XL eith there slim fits and L in there relaxed fits as well. Overall i like there quality. Think we boys got a little spoiled by great gents who re-measure every garment we buy from them. So there’s a lot to learn for a lot of brands. But every time a doesn’t have a proper sizingchart etc. i love IH more! That’s one of the reasons i come back at them.

Yeah definitely. I got a shirt from Merz once (ordered directly, so it was sorta cost-prohibitive returning it) that was sized weird, wrote them a note to let them know and they were kind of dicks about it. Just kind of a "read the chart" response or "we have inconsistencies, and that's the way it is" sort of thing. Made me think of how much I appreciate Iron Heart, for sure.
Anyway, I'm pretty careful about getting something from them now, usually making sure it's not too difficult to return (i.e. buying from a US seller, in my case).

@tody cool! The 2s14 is amazing

@Karol cooo one! Merz B is amazing! Have 2 2s14 now and a 9oz henley

@jerkules I have a couple of long sleeve 1950s. I like them, but they are a lot lighter than my 206/207 henleys and 2S14/2S18 beasts. They work for me when I want something lighter but they need more attention when washing (they need pulling back into shape and I can’t not iron the 1950s but can get away with not ironing the heavyweight ones - you might have different thresholds).
Do watch out for sizing - you might need to go up a size in 1950s compared to 2S14, for example, as they are cut slimmer.
I guess it depends on what you’re looking for. There are probably more options out there at lighter weights but if the one you’ve seen is a bargain, maybe just go for it?
