IH-555S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo PREVIOUSLY IH-555-01

I'm tempted to argue with Giles here (yeah, sir, I know your wrath…).
When in doubt, don't wash is my credo. So look at them, sniff them (when unobserved) and ask is it really necessary, and then postpone the wash.... -
Dear Giles, our difference then is likely in the degree of dirtiness that justifies a wash, where my threshold is higher than yours. The point of extending the life of the denim is very true, of course, only I find torn/destroyed denim so damn cool…..
-
No slow spin, back to the sink.
-
Also means I can get them hemmed at Self Edge next week
This alone would be reason to wash them, since the good folks at Self Edge don't want to touch your grotty jeans.
And I agree with Giles- 4 months without a wash means they're due.
-
I know I won't convince you, but please allow me my "dissenting opinion".
My fave anecdote is when Denham had a pop-up repair shop, and I had two badly damaged jeans in dire need of repair. One of them was truly grotty, mostly from a previous owner. As they had old-fashioned metal tubs there, a wash on location would have been an option. But the true denimhead who did the repair (and became a friend later) expressed no disgust, but rather admiration, put on those thin surgical-style gloves and did the repair. I wore the jeans for quite some time as they were, and eventually tub-washed them (with me wearing them) last summer. -
I had already decided to wash them before posting on here, just thought I would join in.
3 months is enough for me to know that they need a wash, plus I wanted to get them hemmed again (and know that SE will only do that with clean jeans)
-
I rarely wash my jeans, and yes it sounds plausible that they don´t last as long as frequently washed jeans, BUT, i have 14oz Nudie jeans i have worn 500-600 days without wash and still holding on just fine. My jeans doesn't smell worse after 500 days without wash, compared to 8 weeks of wear without wash.
-
I wash my work jeans….soak everything else or use a spray bottle to spot soak a baggy waist
-
Even if I represent a minority in this topic, I do wash every pair of jeans before wearing it at 30° (Celsius) gently in the washing machine. The raw ones as well and they're getting softer without losing any of their gorgeous appearance but lose the starch and the raw-odour. At first I was scared to do so but absolutely nothing happens and it increases the lifespam of the denim. Cheers!
-
Ha, the "raw odour" is something I particularly like about a new pair of raw denims. I often thought I could be an element in a new men's fragrance, marketed on the brand name of a good jeans maker…... Can I copyright this idea?
-
I've lost a ton of weight in the last 2 months. Any telling when these will be available in either a 33 or 34 again?
-
Go for the 777, @FilthyBloodJunkie, they have nearly the same fit but a better fitting top-block. The awesome 21 oz denim is the same.
-
Thanks. But I kind of like the top block on the 555,and the navy arcs, hence why I wanted them over the 777.
-
I suspect that this has might have been covered in this thread before, but heck.. Ever thought about overdying some 555-01's, IH-crew?
-
That's what I like to hear..
