hello! i thought i'd share about my recent trip that i've just returned from. i'm sure many of you have read the book Born to Run. the book has inspired an annual trip and run in the copper canyons near Chihuahua, Mexico. this year i was able to partake. 40 of us made it down to the copper canyons and spent a week there. it was by far the most powerful trip i've ever been on. we were able to be included in numerous spiritual ceremonies, listen in on talks from leaders in the raramuri community who are fighting to preserve their history and lands, and receive permission to run on raramuri lands with various runners. the copper canyons are such a special place. there's something about them that will change you. i feel as though my spirit is still there. my appreciation for the lands that i've run on and those who came before me has grown immensely. here are a few images that bring me great joy from the trip:

After years of on and off solo running, I took part in my first organised event today.
Really enjoyed the whole experience. I was quite de-trained after a couple of lazy months, but being surrounded by a crowd and fellow runners, I managed to finish the 10k in a respectable 53 minutes.

New PR today. Was aiming for 1:45/ 8:00 mile pace. A friend texted me right when the race started to run with her. Did first mile at 9:00 pace. Got the okay to go ahead and managed to finish in 1:42/ 7:52 pace.

Just ran the Richmond half marathon this morning. It was my buddies first half and I just stuck with him the whole time. So much fun getting to watch people reach their goals!

A few miles out on the Cerbat Hills near Kingman, Arizona. The Rav4 I reserved wasn't available but the X1 is ok. So nice to run on dry desert trails as a break from the English mud.

Finished South Downs Way 50 mile ultramarathon in 8 hours 25 mins today.

@Nik wow that’s an incredible time! Well done mate! Are you able to post a GPS file of the route as I live by the downs, I’m assuming it was Eastbourne, beachy head etc? Perfect conditions today too! How you feeling?
