IHW-01 (Melton Wool shirt)

@Omega:
Hey madmonday, don't you have the blue / black version of this? Same size? How does it fit?
Omega, i have the blue from the first run in an xxl & the fit is fine layered over anything. i thought i could afford to go down a size based on the fit & the fact that no xxl were available for purchase from G. unfortunately the xl body is fine, but the forearms feel snug.
i am stubborn as an old billy goat or injunjack, so even though G states wool should stretch I don't want to go through all that. i think i told you all about my phobia of smedium looking or felling clothing
makes me think of tommyboy & the large man in a little coat

Ah, I see. Now I know, thanks SimonQ and madmonday.
Now, questions for G. Now that we know there are no changes to the pattern, how about the wool itself? The charcoal this year is definitely way softer and less scratchy than the older versions of the black and blue. Is there a difference in weaving (if there is such a term)? The cupro (Satin) lining in the yoke and the new button holes were a nice touch. My fingers were grateful that they didn't have to go through hell to button them up ;D.
-
I have not had a moment to sit down and compare the three I own but there are only a few noticeable changes: Satin Lining, Cuff tightness, and scratchy/ thicker Wool. I never wear my cuffs closed on these shirts so I didn't notice it until SimonQ mentioned it. I will take a look at them all next to each other some time this week and report back.

I had the exact opposite reaction to the Wool/ incarnation from this year of the IHW-01. The Wool being thicker makes it more coarse IMO. Not that this bothers me as the thicker the better!

xpost from waywt
not a great fit pic, yeah but still…
I had this in an L before, fit like a jacket but the body and sleeve length on me was pretty sloppy
went down to an S which I wear in most IH button/snap shirts
it fits snug like a shirt now and I like it that way[picture deleted by the member]

All the febreeze in the world is not helping my navy IHW-01 from smelling like an ashtray post-Berlin trip Think i'll need to do some trawling through this thread for some expert wash guidance!
-
For melton wool, you can dry clean I think. Otherwise, cold/warm hand wash.
-
i washed on delicate cycle cold wash & rinse. i dried flat like i would a knit sweater & she came out pretty good with no noticeable shrinkage or anything.
-
I'm not sure I'd go for the machine wash, but I'm happy and not surprised it took it like a champ.
I recently hand washed the navy in warmer than normal water to see if I could get it slightly shorter/narrower and it worked like a dream. Since it was it's first wash, prior to the heavy use season, I was surprised at how much I liked the slightly rumpled and worn-in uneveness of the melton.
Brilliant garment.

Dry clean. I have done so to all (except the Charcoal) and they return perfectly. I do not trust myself to wash them like Monday. Nor do I have the time as I wear them so frequently.
-
Cheers all. I'm not Monday enough to clean on my own so I'll pop into the dry cleaners for a freshen up.

i actually like it more now because the parts that have the cotton bound are slightly faded & just look and feel really good. i will take pictures when i get a moment (or feel like it >:()
