The rangers have become my everyday shitkickers lately.

Hi,
I recently bought myself a pair of RW Beckman's. I like them very much.
I'm just wondering how tough they are. If they could be used to ride motorbike and not be totally scratched up by the gear shifting, etc..
A few years ago I bought some very nice looking boots from a brand called Shoto (I think they're Italian). I thought they might be up for the job and rode my bike. The leather was totally destroyed. It just looked good but wasn't meant for actual use. I got a different impression from what I had heard and read about the Red Wings. So it would be great to hear about any experiences. -
Wear mine for riding all the time, haven't noticed any extra wear and tear although they are a bit scuffed in the toes. The part of the boot where the shifter hits doesn't have any obvious abrasion but my shift peg has a rubber boot, if yours is raw metal it may cause more damage. I see some road damage as added character – how pristine do you want them and do you go offroad or stay on pavement? I like em so much I plan on buying another pair in Black.
In comparison my 1000 Mile boots pretty much fell apart. More like 10 Mile boots.

Yeah, gakugeidaigaku is right. I lived there for a short time many years ago
Yes, it's simply metal. So I might need to use one pair exclusively for riding. Might actually get the proper RW riding boots, those without laces, for that. Or the Salt Miner. I guess scratches on them fit better than on the Beckman which I think was also called the Gentleman Traveller.
I was riding my bike in flipflops, too. -
Not Salt Miner, I meant the Iron Ranger.

Hi All, I'm planning on getting a pair of Red Wing 212s and could really do with some size advice:
I normally take a US size 10, width EE if possible. If it helps, I've got some Cherokee boots in that size that fit perfectly, and I take a US size ten in normal Timberland boots. The Red Wing European site says a US10 = a UK 9, but as these are a D fitting, I was wondering if anyone had some sage adivce? Sadly, I can't find any local stores with a pair to try.
Cheers in advance!
Michael.
