Watches - another OCD problem

That's awesome G. Love the IWCs.

@mvb:
there is a 'hommage' of the portuguese which has a nice seagull movement from parnis, costs less then 100 bucks
That's outstanding.
-
I'm anti-IWC in general (they charge too much for their class of watches vs. competitors imo) but the Portuguese is beautiful. I'd break my rule for one of those.
of course any high-end watch brand charge a lot compared to their actual cost giving the fact that a lot manufacturers (even patek in some of their chronographs) use some Valjoux/ETA parts as Base in some/most of their movements. engineering quality and built of the cases in IWC's are extremely good any way. IWC changed marketing strategy (which reflect part of the prices imo) when CEO Kern took over and concentrated on the Asian market including campaign with sports and other celebrities from all over the world (Figo, Zidane, Becker etc), including Integration into richemont group, fair enough imo. They have a lot of success with their themes and boutique strategy like other brands hublot, panerai, rolex, brequet, omega etc as well.
but I understand your reasoning. I owned some IWC's sold traded all but may go back one day

Just ordered this watch by Slow. Kind of unique. Swiss movement, but they only use the 24hr hand and left off the date, hour & minute. Nice & clean, but will be an adjustment to read.
-
Yeah, it is a weird adjustment. I have a 24hr dial watch that I bought off ebay a few years back- Chinese automatic movement in a Russian watch, like this one:
I used it to drive Julie crazy. She stopped wearing a watch for a few years, and so she'd constantly ask me for the time. When she asked while I was wearing this one, I simply held up my arm so that she could see the watch and figure it out herself. It didn't take long for her to stop asking.

Haha, that's too good.

There's a review of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms up on ABlogToWatch. I know there are a few fans of this piece around here…

There's also an article about the new Villeret, which uses a modified version of the movement from the Fifty Fathoms. I wonder if this might make it into an update of that model if they refresh it now the Bathyscaphe is out.

I may have done another volte face. One of my customers makes these. There may be a barter in my future….

They look pretty sharp. The bronze with the green face is very nice.

Upgraded the watch strap on the incoming watch. Whiskey shell ought to do. Now I need the watch to arrive.
