The Chopard store in London emailed me today to see if I was interested in the LUC 8HF Power Control that they've had in stock for the past year. They must be getting desperate to shift it.
Here's a photo of one from SalonQP in 2014
And a wrist shot of a mock-up taken in (I think) the Watches of Switzerland store on Regent Street.
It's an interesting timepiece. Most high-beat movements run at 4 or 5 Hz, but the 8HF runs at 8 Hz (57,600 vph). The only thing that runs faster is the Breguet 7727 at 10 Hz, which probably has the coolest modern calibre.
This watch is from the second run of 250 pieces, and has a ceramic and titanium case. The original run of 100 lacked the power reserve, and came in polished titanium.
Hodinkee and Perpetuelle have pieces about the watch if you want to know more.

There's a review of the Black Bay Chronograph at aBlogToWatch. I'm a bit on the fence with this one, and I agree with the journalist that updating the Heritage Chrono would have been a smart move.
Since it's a Tuesday, there's also a review of the first Master Chronometer Speedmaster. I like the non-moonphase Racing version that's just been launched.

These Seiko watches are fantastic. The high beat movements they use are beautifully made to a very high level.
The only thing that holds them back is branding.
Generally people buy these watches purely for what they are not for some back story or branding.
Which really is the way it should be. You look at it and buy it on its own merits not because it's been promoted and advertised to a massive extent.
A bit like our favourite jeans. You buy them because they are great!Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What's the Background Story to the snoopy watch?

@Max:
What's the Background Story to the snoopy watch?
From what I understand the snoopy logo was a mascot or patch that was on the moon landing when the Speedmaster was taken into space and became the moon watch.
There is lots of information about it on Fratello watches. They have a massive knowledge on these watches.

snoopy has always been the coolest dog & NASA is kind of awesome to me. Agreed backstory shouldn't matter as the piece should stand on its own merits but you know I do like a good backstory.
I wish I could get one of those snoopy pins from back in the day

Real snoopy pins are very rare, some times they come up for sale but you need to be certain they are not replicas.

Cheers @Anesthetist managed to pick up one of the last ones from Watch Gecko. They don't have them on their website anymore but may still have a couple on eBay.
It's a Eulit strap, and they make some nice combinations, so you may have luck with another supplier. I think I saw some on Amazon.

An Afternoon In Tokyo With The Man Who Designs Casio G-Shock Watches
It's at the opposite end of the scale to the usual stuff I post, but worth a read.
If you want the usual service, then this piece at Hodinkee on the Patek Philippe Easter calculator is for you. Any article that references Donald Knuth and Carl Friedrich Gauss is always going to be a winner in my book.

^^ Nice double red. The right one will come along with box and papers one day…
Thought I'd wear my 1675 from 1967. I never really liked this watch, but I grew fond of it and its rich history and so I eventually picked one up. Often times I wear it with a NATO. The dial and hour markers have a lovely patina.
Rolex invented the first smart watch with a built in app and it's the Pepsi.
