G, is your garden big enough for a tent? H
Yes, but it wouldn't work, there's no where to put it up without it being in the way. Sorry. There is this place http://www.kingfisher-caravan-park.co.uk where you can camp (about 3 miles away) if you want a blast back to the 60's. G

@J:
Who will remain sober enough to take the pics? Are you going to uncover the old well for the day? Might come in handy…
Asp
I'm sure plenty of photos will be taken, but the well will not be uncovered because I suspect it's very difficult to get out of when you've fallen down it drunk…G
-
Yes, please do not uncover any well's. I have no doubt if you did it would be me who would fall down it…

np, it was just a thought.

I am really excited for this! Trying to lock down my travel plans today…

within 1/4 mile of Giles's place I can recommend The Crew house for cheap clean self catering quality accommodation http://www.crew-houses.co.uk/. Or the closest but a little tired, The Spring Garden B&B http://www.bedandbreakfastsguide.com/displays/Spring-Garden-Guest-House-1803.aspx
If you want to spend a little more then http://www.angleseyhotel.co.uk/ is pretty good 2 miles away. If budget is no issue then http://www.alverbankhotel.co.uk/ is beautiful, also 2 miles. If you like shopping and night life then The Holiday Inn Express Gunwharf is your best bet, 1 mile + a short ferry trip.Need a lift from the train station or Southampton Airport PM me.
Simon, you are a gem. Another OK place is the Old Lodge Hotel, approx 1.5 miles away I guess. I'm putting together a PDF which will give directions for road/rail travellers, and links/phone numbers for local accommodation, I'll send this to anyone who thinks they can make it. We're getting very excited!

@J:
Will (would) you ask Will from Aero if he can make some heavy horse hide pants in a 40" inseam?
Cosmo, I spoke to Will, here is his answer:
Yes, we can. May take a little longer than normal because we'll have to wait for a big horse, and there will be a smallish price uplift.

I spoke to Haraki this morning. He has confirmed that he will def be here, Ayumi (Triple Works) will be coming too.
I also spoke to Will this morning and asked him to make a couple more Aero/Iron Heart samples to have at the party. A cafe racer with a highwayman collar done in antiqued FQ black horeshide and a half belt (but with cafe racer type arms) done in FQ Brown horsehide. I aim to sell them, but am having them both made in my size, just in case

Thanks, Giles. I got the message from Will. The wait's OK; I understand the horse size issue–they usually look at me and leave for other parts! Let me know if you need measurements other than 38W 40L. I'm unsure of the rise for these, but they look like a zippered 501 clone, so I would expect the rise and the rest of the dimensions to be similar. I currently have a pair of russet-colored Nappa leather 501s made by my favorite biker girl/leather-crafter, Glenda Potvin. She worked at Purple Hog Leathers here in Norcal for some years. As long as we're waiting for the untimely end of a large equine, I'll get them out and check the fit and measurements.

Very cool, wish i could make it :O(
it would be like a 'lo head meeting Ralph Laurn & being able to walk away with something from the meeting.
can't wait to see the flicks
OK. I have said elsewhere that these are unavailable outside of Japan. Sorry. But Haraki is going to bring a few to the party as gifts/prizes.

I'm on the case Cosmo. You haven't considered Elephant hide (or perhaps Giraffe) have you , the wait may be a tad shorter

I didn't really get bummed until I saw the email, but this gathering is gonna be f'n awesome. Kinda bummed I can't go, but %100 stoked that it's even happening. Big ups to Giles and Paula for their hospitality, to Haraki for making the trip and keeping up imperviously stubborn, and cheers to everybody else, who'r gonna have a great time!

Well I do have two elk hides due from Rocky Mountain Tanners soon–maybe one for each leg would work? Giraffe leg pants also sound intriguing, but would look like jodhpurs, and the weight of elephant-hide pants would require custom Ironheart heavy leather braces and some time with free weights to build the shoulders to hold them up! Of course, then you'd have to find a cow or steer big enough for the 54" length I need for braces or make them of elephant as well. Hmmmm.....
