Received my 1955S yesterday and wore them first time today. As a long time devoted follower of the 634 cut I wanted to try something new. What a pleasant surprise!
the higher rise makes them really comfy. think i just added a new favorite to my rotation. Thanks again Giles and Paula for the incredibly fast delivery. Always a pleasure to order from you!

Thanks to some exemplary Customer Service from Giles,Paula and the IH folks,I now am pleased to own my first 1955S Jeans.I sized down an inch from my standard 32" waist to a Size 31x32.
If I could find a pr of Gloves that fit as well as these, then I would buy them. Superb, and thanks to all ,once again.
( Yes,I know I should be finishing off my basement instead of surfing denim sites and pulling the Arcs off !) -
hi all, im a bit new to all this so looking for a bit of advice on the 1955S. im another big in the thighs, small in the waist guy so the 1955S looks a little more comfortable that the other cuts. im a bit worried about some of the comments on here about guys with big guts not enjoying them though. while not really a gut, ive packed on a fairly substantial muffin top of the past 12 months (which will be gone within the next 5 months). how much of a gut are we talking about before these jeans become unwearable?

That really is an impossible question to answer. I suggest you do this, that'll give you some sort of empirical data:

The 1955s is my favorite cut. I tried the MBBs, but there simply wasn't enough room in the thighs. I was able to adjust to the higher rise in this model pretty quickly, and have no issues with it.
I wish I could try the 55 UHRs, but they are cut slimmer than the 21oz model, and don't have enough room in the thigh (at least in my size, 34).

ok so i think the 1955 cut is going to make me a happy camper. like seanocono said, ill just have to get used to the higher rise. i should just check though, does the higher rise restrict movement at all?
@graeme when you said the UHR are a little more blue, does that mean the S is a little more towards the black/darker end of the blue spectrum? thats kind of what it looks like in the photos too.
and finally @giles is it ok to request size 36 but at the smaller end of the 36 scale? right now the 36 will fit me perfectly but i plan on loosing about 10kg soon and dont want things getting too baggy later on. i dont think ill be loosing enough to squeeze into a pair of stretched 34s
