John Lofgren (Speedway)

@stichdown-shell they are pretty awesome.

I am now officially a John Lofgren owner and scared of never again being able to buying anything else
M43 roughout, finally I found a boot where style, quality and fit are 100% what I wished for.

I love them, I’m 3 pairs deep now. CXL, Badlassi, and the Devils Causway. I think I’m set for a very long time. They have gotten easier to get on. Just needed to get the shaft stretched but overall fit is amazing!
-
Love the look of the engineers. Maybe one day I will add a pair to my collection.

@T4920 you can resole a Lofgren boot for sure but takes some more work then a 360 welt. So the price must be very tempting imo. Is the sole also build on a other last then the standard punchers? I’ve seen some resoles on Lofgren by Brian the Bootmakers which does a great job but things can get pricey.

@Heavy_blue the product description on East West say 'build on original John Lofgren lasts'

Unsure exactly what impact this has on resoling, as I'm new to this boot thing, but just weighing up the pros and cons before dropping £830 on a pair of boots... Being able to resole them is very important to me as I'd want them to last for decades.
-
@T4920 oh sorry i misunderstood and thought you meant you saw some 2nd hand Lofgrens with a custom last. But yes you can resole them, if seen lot of variations on the web and especially the role club resoles on the Lofgrens are pretty epic for sure. To be honest i would never drop my high end boots by a ‘regular’ cobbler and would always invest on a good resole cause imo that’s how they’ll last for ages
-
@Heavy_blue that makes sense, and obviously resoling wouldn't even be a consideration until years down the lines, but something to thing about nonetheless..
Also considering the Green CXL Chelsea Boots, a little more affordable but way less of a statement piece imo...
Wish these had the Woodsman Heel like the DPs!
-
@T4920 beware.. once you’ll go down this line a new addiction has been born but i must say that my punchers are among my favorites! The calf lining and the overall vibe, fit and comfort is amazing! Also check the role club underdogs which are so very cool! But i’m very pleased with my lofgren engineers and punchers.. but can’t wait for my wesco anniversaries to arrive and don’t even get me started on the clinch 🫣

@T4920 I was never a boots guy and always wore sneakers on a daily basis... Then I discovered Red Wings, went down the rabbithole and bought a lot of expensive boots from RW, Alden, RM Williams and now Lofgren.
To be honest on most days I grab my IH sneakers because it's just the easy way. If I could start from the beginning with what I know now I would have never spend so much money in total but buy one or two realy nice boots. Probably Lofgrens. If you are not a boot guy I would go with the chelsea for the start because they are great for everyday wear but still rugged. Or the M43 they are still wearable whole year round but still give the feeling of a great boot
